I don't think they had much choice really, they have so little coming out before the end of the year and I'm not sure there is that much for early next year either. We were very spoilt in the early part of this year and that combined with covid delays its going to be a slightly leaner triple a scene for a bit. I'm fine with that though as it encourages you to try different games and you can find some gems along the way.

"Perfect Dark reboot may be in rough shape right now"
I had genuinely forgotten they were even doing it.
EDIT:
Re-posting this for the new page

Considering I have Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon 2, Nioh 2 and others to start I'm sure I'll survive any drought. /Still wants new stuff.

Perfect dark reboot has been moved mostly into crystal dynamics hands now hasn't it? The project lead brought them in as he worked with them in the past.
I assume them being bought by embracer hasn't changed it.

A concrete release date on Ragnarok and the State of Play reception would have been a lot more postive, but such is life/the nature of development

I assume them being bought by embracer hasn't changed it. I'd forgotten Crystal's handling it. That curbs my expectations quite a bit. I'd be more optimistic if it was Eidos Montreal. It's hard for me to get excited about Xbox Rare franchise revivals when they never get Rare to develop them.

Are IGN going to turn off that Playstation advertising during this event? If not, Sony must have handed them a large sack of cash

Xbox stream, which should be better anyway since they'll have the 4K feed.

So is Bethesda only a MS company now? Will Elder Scrolls be on PS5/4?

Agreed.
Unless Ubisoft has some big announcements to make - Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Fenyx 2, whatever - and makes them very soon indeed, we've probably seen all we're getting for the remainder of 2022. Maybe Q1 of next year, too.
(I'm assuming it's too soon for Embracer to show off the Tomb Raider game on which Crystal Dynamics has been working, and also that Embracer won't be able to turn around remakes/remasters of the other IPs they bought from Square until sometime in 2023.)
If Ragnarok and Witcher 3 come out in Q4 2022 as rumoured, I'll be happy with that. I'll just need to find something to play for the next 3.5 months!

Seeing as Bethesda liked to put Skyrim on every platform imaginable I'd be surprised if they kept console exclusive. I think Microsoft will time it and keep the good DLC for pc and Xbox only.
Edit- Just seen Frogs link so ignore

Tempering my expectations as usual, or trying to at least, these things are always an anti-climax.
I'd love a conference full of gameplay for the likes of Avowed, State of Decay 3, Perfect Dark, Hellblade 2, Indiana Jones and the many, many more projects MS have on the back burner, but it won't happen.
The only real certainty is Starfield it feels like. Even Goldeneye (which feels all but confirmed at this stage) I wouldn't put money on just in case.
I'd settle for a conference without any CG trailers, but I'm sure they'll be several.
Basically, I'm telling myself it'll be shit, so it can only surprise from there.

This! This! A thousand times this!
I ended up playing Ghost, Horizon, and Elden Ring in swift succession; as much as I enjoyed the first two and adored the last one, I'm done with open-world games until CDPR gets around to putting out The Witcher 3 on PS5.
My sense of fatigue is such that I'm actually glad TW3 was delayed from Q2 to Q4, and it's even having an adverse impact upon my excitement for Dragon's Dogma 2 (if that game actually exists).

Yeah, despite all the "We don't want to deny PlayStation owners the chance to play these games" stuff Uncle Phil had to say before the Zenimax acquisition went through, Microsoft u-turned on that front very quickly. (Bitter? Me? Not at all!)

I'd forgotten about Indiana Jones. I'd love to see that. Starfield is almost guaranteed. Same with Forza Motorsport 8. I'd love to finally see Fable, maybe the Kojima game, and I hope, but don't expect, some special reveal from Sega. Virtua Fighter 6, maybe Outrun 3 (not likely), something we haven't already seen. So not Sonic Frontiers, basically. 👀

They aren't being denied, they are being offered a low cost point of entry if they want to play them that much

(Bitter? Me? Not at all!) See, I didn't think Sony would be getting any of Bethesda's IPs because I do think franchises like Elder Scrolls are more popular on Xbox than PS (but both pale to their PC fanbases). It's the Activision acquisition where I do think they'll relent, because Call of Duty or Crash or something are massively more popular on PS. CoD *was* the Xbox shooter back in the 360 days, but quickly flipped on PS4 when they started giving PS4 all the little exclusive DLCs and whatever. So I think there, the loss in revenue would be too high to risk losing, and I'm not sure how confident MS is that they'll snatch the fanbase back the way they might manage for ES.

Oh, absolutely - in fact, unless I'm much mistaken, they've already said* they plan to keep Call of Duty (at a bare minimum) on PlayStation.
Being 100% selfish about it, I'd rather they kept Activision's stuff and let us PS peasants have access to Bethesda's, purely because I don't care about the former (Sekiro is the only ActiBlizz game I own, and it's not even their IP) and like the latter a good deal. C'est la vie.
* Of course, they may make anther u-turn on this front once the powers that be have okayed the Activision acquisition!

I accidentally clicked on the ASL version of the stream, and that woman doing the signing looks immensely irritated to be there.
