I keep asking these kinds of questions in other threads, which is probably kinda annoying, so I made this one.
Since I'm overseas, I find it hard to get an idea of what other kids the same age (as mine) are doing, what they're into and what's suitable or not.
I know opinions vary dramatically depending on the parent's attitude, but whatever.
So, first question:
Does anyone have brats watching Get Even or Get Even: Rebel Cheer Squad on iPlayer/Netflix?
the first one popped up on the kids iPlayer account one day as a kids show, and they started watching an episode, but the next day it was gne from the kids accounts and only listed under drama. It seems a bit more grown up than most cbbc type stuff.
Then the second one popped up on the kids account and has stayed there, and it seems a bit younger targeted, but I can't find any info on it as its new.
11 year old is desperate to watch them.

I find Common Sense Media useful for getting a quick perspective on what content is suitable for what age. It’s very American so you can usually take a year or two off the recommendations (they’re a very puritanical bunch) but it has adult and kids’ reviews and it’s very thorough.

Yeah, I do use them quite a bit. They are not keen on taking the lord's name in vain! That was kinda what put me off letting her watch Get Even, as they say 14. But they don't have the new one yet. But then for Get Even the kids say 8+ and the Parents say 11+ and the site says 14+ and I'm all confused again

I realize this is probably going to be rather unhelpful (especially since it's coming from someone whose closest experience to having a kid is watching my younger cousins a few times), but when it comes to something like this I'd say the only foolproof solution is to skim through the show/movie/whatever in question yourself and use your own judgement (generic "you" here)
As you say, different sources will more than likely give you different ratings and even professional reviewers sometimes have trouble removing any personal bias or societal norms and giving a fully objective review. Then there's the fact that age ratings, while good for a first impression, sometimes fail to hold up under scrutiny; I personally have played multiple games where the age rating really wasn't justified by the content, in both "directions" so to speak. And don't even get me started on apps that categorize shows as drama, comedy, kids' show and so on... Attack on Titan and High School DxD have no business whatsoever in the freaking kids' section, Netflix (only two examples of course and has likely -hopefully!- been fixed by now, but you get the idea) So once again, apologies if this doesn't help but I really think some personal experience is the only way to be sure... Of course, whether you have the time and/or desire to take a look at each new thing yourself is a different issue altogether

Age ratings for games mystify me - I’ve not yet found a game with PEGI 16 rating that I’m unhappy for my 11yo to play, but if a game has an 18 rating it could be basically fine or absolutely horrific and I’d have to play it myself to be sure.
TV and movies are a bit more consistent, we generally go with “your age plus two” in my house. But yeah Common Sense goes into a decent level of detail if you read the descriptions rather than just the recommended age.
