Can't seem to find a thread for mac stuff if there is one.
Wondered if anyone can help.
Got a new mac and spent hours doing a system migrate. Most of the shit doesn't work and it's cluttered as all hell. I realise I would rather just do a clean install and start from scratch.
How do I reformat the HD and just start again, making sure I don't fuck it completely and keep the OS?

It’s really hard to fuck a modern mac beyond repair, I thought I managed it the other month when I was in a rush to erase everything while waiting to trade in at the Apple store but you just boot in safe mode and download the OS from the cloud or whatever

It’s really hard to fuck a modern mac beyond repair I almost managed it. Updated to Big Sur without enough space on the drive to complete the installation, installer suffers from a bug that stops you doing that, OS rendered unusable, machine gets caught in boot loop, can’t repair the installation as the drive is encrypted and rescue mode won’t accept my credentials to decrypt it. Had to completely scrub the drive and reinstall from the emergency internet installer.
