So in the face of escalating energy costs I've been charged with investigating generating our own electricity on site. So long shot, does anyone on here have any experience of CHP units and if so, are they worth it and can you recommend anyone I should be talking to?

We got a letter through the post about having one installed for free as a trial. Looked like bullshit to me.

The theory is sound, generate expensive electricity using cheap gas, and the person I spoke to this morning threw some big numbers around (while omitting several other large numbers) like yes, it costs £250k, but the roi on that is about 3 1/2 years because of all the massive savings, while conveniently overlooking the £30k annual maintenance charge that increases that 3.5 years to 8 years.

The theory is sound, generate expensive electricity using cheap gas I'm not sure that this situation will continue for very long.
