See I would normally be all over Maiden but I can't be fucked with Senjutsu. It's boring as all hell. Somewhere in Time is one of my least favourite albums as well. Pity.

Who am I kidding. I'm going to try get tickets. Don't think the Glasgow ones go on general sale until tomorrow.

I kind of agree with you to be honest. I am not a fan of Somewhere in Time if only because I don't listen to it. It has some decent stuff on it but my Maiden is Number of the Beast, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, Fear of the Dark (odd combo I realise) And I haven't listened to Senjutsu so can't comment. But I can't pass up the chance to see them live. Never have, probably never will again. What did you think of Book of Souls? I am currently listening to Killers which is an absolutely astounding album.

nexus6 I liked Book of Souls more tbh. It's got some mis-fires but The Red and The Black is a better song than any on Senjutsu. That said, I possibly need to go back and give it a bit more time and I could have written it off too quickly. They must be seen live. I've seen them twice and they are astounding. Going to try get tickets and take the wife and son. He's never seen them so regardless of the set, it's still Maiden innit.

Yeah hopefully I get some. He'll be 13 so I'm sure he can go. Reading there all it says is u14's must be seating and accompanied by an adult. Not even sure what the minimum age is in that case.

I have just secured tickets to see the one and only Iron Maiden play next summer fuck yeah! I read "play" as in theatrical production and now I'm both disappointed and working on a script

Couple of days off school/work to see Maiden is worth it in my book. It's probably the only time he'll get to go. Fingers crossed I can get decent seats.

Hmmm. Had a look at the presale offerings and the seating ones are rubbish. Question is, will I stand a better chance of getting a better seat in general sale tomorrow?

I just panicked and spunked for seats up the back as I was unsure what availability would be like. Going with 2 adult hobbits who can't see anything in the standing zone. When I was trying to book at 0900 there were no seats at the front of the seating section available apparently. Whether that means they were sold out already or just not released I don't know. Anyway, busy cutting the arms off my denim jacket at the minute.

Yeah there's a few seats up the back. Don't know whether I should grab them or wait and see if there will be better ones tomorrow.
Urgh. I can't make decisions.

You won't regret it. Will this be your lads first gig? My son & his mate were wide-eyed during it all. His dad and i were chuffed they enjoyed it so much. We figured the first gig should be a special one and there's a lot of stuff going on with the stage for them to remember for years to come.

Funnily enough the only other gig he's been to was to see my band open for a Maiden tribute band a few years ago, but this will be his first "proper" one (and will piss all over the other one from a great height - even though the Maiden tribute was actually pretty damn good!). What's great is the wife loves seeing Maiden as well - even though Cher and Dolly Parton are more her thing - so the three of us will hopefully have a great time.

When Maiden sing songs about Stratego you do wonder if they need a bit of a holiday.

So I moved to a new place and am still settling in. It’s a weird experience for me after living most my life in London. It’s fine, nothing wrong with it, but it’s not London.
So I noticed there was a local Retro Games Fair at the local church hall. I wasn’t expecting anything great but it was far better than it had any right to be. First time I put my hands on a Sega Nomad, and I enjoyed the CRT light gun games. (It turns out House of the Dead 2 was the only one in the series I never played - and it’s probably the best one).
But the actual highlight was when a lad of about eight years old saw my t-shirt, which I picked up in Berlin during this year’s Pokemon GoFest. He recognised it and asked me all about how it was. At the end of the conversation he asked me if I had any Pokemon cards, and I said I didn’t have any really as that one was one thing I hadn’t got into.
He then said he had a spare shiny Tyrannitar card on him and said I should have it to start my collection. It’s honestly the kindest act anyone has done for me in a long time and I’m not ashamed to say I’m welling up as I type this.
