Yeah singer had a mental breakdown aswell during lockdown. So can't imagine music top of the agenda. They've done a few side things but Slaves as a band looking done and dusted for now.

Shame. They were sensational at their height, and probably accelerated my hair loss at their live shows.
I love 2 piece bands that sound massive, and they were HUGE

Different times, Slaves were pretty big 2014-18 but faded out as Idles broke through To be fair slaves gone quiet ever since the gutarists wife died of cancer. Left behind two young kids aswell. Shit, didn't know that. I do really like Slaves, the last EP they released was pretty meaty too. There is room to like both though (I have a lot of time for both bands). |

I remember Slaves knocking about and they were good weren't they. Very sad.
Primal Scream I didn't love live. I don't think Gillespie cut the mustard last night. Maybe it's one of those that translates better in person. Loved his suit though and the guitarist was great.

Yeah, have to say, I didn't watch the whole set. One thing I've noticed from watching festival footage that I've been to is that they often sound out of tune on the telly but fine live (even allowing for the atmosphere masking some etc).

Yeah hopefully slaves will come back, listened to the last album 2018? And its strong. Obviously life has got in the way and Radio 1 arnt banging their drum (no pun intended) any more.
Really enjoyed St Vincent. Haven't watched wet leg yet which is also supposed to be good.

I watched a bit of Wet Leg, as they're locals and all. They were alright, even if not my thing. Looked genuinely chuffed to be there, taking it all in etc, which is great to see.

I've seen Wolf Alice live before and their lead guitarist was great.
Wet Leg were a bit off, but I'm a bit over them so I'm not exactly unbiased.

Wet leg have a few decent singles imo, but the rest are pretty meh. They were certainly enjoyable being there.
I need to see a the wolf alice set, the few songs i heard on the radio were great.
Primal scream sounded pretty off. It must be them, because jamc were up before & the sound was good for them. Unless the sound engineer spilt a beer on the console between the bands. 😀

Phoebe Bridgers my highlight so far. Never heard of her but she was amazing. Billie Eilish was great too. As were First Aid Kit.
Don’t have much of a plan for today. Haim, Olivia Rodrigo, fall asleep under a tree in the green fields.

Really want to watch Yard Act this evening, but I'm not sure the BBC are covering that stage.

I watched Robert Plant last night, thought he was great, pure class shows as always. The short bits of everything else I've seen (Billy EIlish, Sam Fender, some other clowns) has been abysmal but I think maybe I'm not the target audience...! I quite liked a bit of Supergrass back in the day, I'll check their set out.

Haven't checked out Phoebe Bridgers set yet, but it should be a highlight, I'm a big fan. Some smaller bands I want to check out today too: Sprints, English Teacher and Just Mustard. |

If a more gospelly Marvin Gaye appeals, Gabriels on the Park stage was just very good.
Also caught Blossoms earlier. I didn't like this band almost solely based on the wedding pictures that were in the press recently where the singer did the 'album cover stare/scowl' in every picture. And then they were sold to the local paper (well, Facebook site as it is now).
However, they were alright. Very musically adept. Lovely Rickenbacker bass. Apart from that Charlemagne song though nothing sticks for me.

English Teacher are more post-punk, and Just Mustard are an Irish rock band (on the same record label as Idles and Fontaines D.C). Not sure how they fare live, but both have good EPs/albums out at the moment. |
