The Park stage looks pretty good. I'd go out my way to watch pretty much all of them but, yeah, if you've got Keane playing on the Pyramid stage in the space year 2024 you've absolutely shit the bed.

Who or what is SZA?
I’m definitely officially old now if I’ve not even heard of Glastonbury headliners.

The previously unheard of member of Wu tang clan.
GZA, RZA and now we've got SZA.

SZA I know, but I had a similar experience looking at headliners and the lineup for a recent festival here. When I looked into all the unknown (by me) artists they all had millions of views on youtube and seemed to have gotten famous through social media. And my kids knew a bunch of them. Made me feel old.

I think I've heard of maybe half a dozen acts on the entire list.

I probably will watch Dua Lipa, for her music, of course.

It is weird how they have pegged this lineup at 20 somethings and not 40 year old men who hang around gaming forums

Seems like a pretty good lineup to me. PJ Harvey, Janelle Monae, The National, Last Dinner Party, London Grammar etc.. The Breeders are still going?? Seventeen is the one that's going to make a lot of people feel really old (2nd biggest selling artists in the world last year, beaten only by Taylor Swift. apparently)

Can we burn coldplay in a giant wickerman after, no, actually, *before* their set?

Its like they have asked AI to pick the older artists for the 10s of thousands of middle class 40-60 year olds who go every year for the vibes...

The only person on the planet that I know of who likes Keane is my 73 year old mother. And she won’t be going as she’s having a knee replacement around then.

They have always had the golden oldies on but they seem to have toned it down from last year and moved away from 2023s full calendar of 'heritage' acts. I genuinely thought we might see someone die on stage last summer. And I suppose Coldplay are the most milquetoast of the remaining stadium bands so it does make sense as they always have one.

(I doubt it). And PJ Harvey is OK. Everything else is shite.

Amidst the bigger acts I find a bit dull and the acts I've never heard of, there are a few I'd be interested in seeing. Though those acts are also fairly well established.
Think the acts I'd be most likely to go out of my way to see are: Orbital, Sleaford Mods, Lankum, LCD Soundsystem, Faithless (though suspect it's a DJ set and not sure whose actually in the group anymore), Heilung, The National.

SZA is great - much rather watch her than The National who have turned into the most 'dad rock' band in existence since Boxer released over 15 years ago.
LCD Soundsystem should be great. Same goes for Alvvays and Mannequin Pussy who are coming off the back of their best albums.
Pretty weak line-up in general for my tastes though.

Controversial take perhaps, but The National are even more boring than Coldplay.

PJ Harvey, The National, Bloc Party, and Avril Lavigne are the only acts I'm remotely interested in seeing... and even then I saw Bloc Party at Tramlines last year.
I've had no luck getting Glasto tickets after 20 years of trying, so I don't know why I even look at the lineup anymore. I've written it off as just another thing in life that's for 'other people' that must know something I don't.

Glastonbury, more than every other festival, has to try and cater to all tastes. The headliners over the last few years have often been a bit ancient, so this year doesn't seem much different.
Wasn't a big fan of the most recent National album tbh, but I like their older stuff.

I had a good ten year run in my 20s, but now I'll be volunteering again so I don't worry about the price of my ticket. It's meant I'm happy exploring all the random stages, small acts, non music acts, etc...
My days off shift will basically be bumbling around different stages, then making the most of the late night areas until sunrise. Then rest up somewhere listening to music the next day until my shift starts.
We Out Here is the one for me to go as a pure punter these days.

Aside from them sucking as hard as any band have ever sucked, the thing that makes me really dislike them is that they came to our union when they were a jobbing band with no (or recently signed) record deal and the lead singer was a fucking bellend.
They were the vanguard of that now massive strata of upper middle class bands who only made it because they had parents rich enough to support them living out of a transit for a few years (Incidentally, this is one of the prime reasons festival lineups are getting worse. Only boring, wealthy arseholes with nothing to say can afford to make it these days).

Many a good actor left on the scrap heap because theu can't afford to audition etc, whilst those wealthy carry on. Or have the connections as a result of the wealth.

Story of my life, couldn't afford to stay on the dole, and those I knew who could tended to do well and now have nice positions in theatre and TV. Not bitter at all.
