Yeah I've been envious seeing some of the crowd shots.

Haven't been to anything like this for a while and I'm really fucking jealous of anyone there right now. Don’t be, the music’s finished and now they’ve got to find their tent

I was kind of expecting some multi-guest finale there. Same, the guests were shit. QOTSA were too dadrock 5 years ago.

Miserable fuckers some of you. The guests were meh but I thought the old gadge himself was superb. In every crowd shot they looked like they were having an amazing time.

For 20 years now 🥺
I loved Era Vulgaris. Lullabies to Paralyze has some great stuff on it
They're no Songs for the Deaf though

Like Clockwork was brilliant but I keep thinking of it as the ‘new one’ despite there having been two albums since then

For whatever reason Glastonbury is one of the only times I really listen to dance so I’m having a day catching up with stuff like Fred Again and Leftfield On QOTSA my order of preference is this, but there’s a big gap between the top three and the rest. I prefer droney and psychedelic tinged to fully rocking out Queens which is why Songs is so low. The ultimate peak for me is the long version of You Can’t Quit Me Baby from Rock in Rio 2001.
Rated R QOTSA Like Clockwork Songs for the Deaf Lullabies to Paralyse Era Vulgaris Villains
Have only had time to skip through the new one. Honorable mention to the Gamma Ray Sessions / Kyuss Split and I’m gutted that I lent out my copy of the Beaver split and never got it back. I’d only had it about six weeks and that was nearly twenty years ago.

Era Vulgaris is the last one I listen to anything like regularly. Same with a lot of bands, their sound changed and I didn’t change with it. I prefer the stuff that doesn’t sound like it’s been written and produced in garage band

Although I always think it sounds like what a Them Crooked Vultures second album might have sounded like... to the point where I wonder if some of the songs Josh wrote with that in mind.

Like Clockwork and Songs for the Deaf are both incredible albums I think. I've not heard the new one yet, but the only album of theirs I didn't care for was the Mark Ronson produced one. It just sounds very tinny and treble-y.

Songs for the Deaf will never be beaten, it encapsulated a perfect moment in time for me, the three singer attack was great too.
They kind of lost me on Like Clockwork, it still had some decent tracks but quite a departure from their sound which from what I understand resonated with a lot of new fans.
I don't get pissy about it though, changes to sound do sometimes need to happen otherwise you get criticism the other other way of things getting stale.
I would say their new album is much more reminiscent of the earlier stuff with lots sounding like bits taken from the self titled, Rated R and SFTD albums plus the better parts of the last two.

Rated R and particularly Songs for the Deaf tower over the rest of their discography. Like Clockwork is probably the best of the bunch after those two. Can't listen to any of the other albums in full as there's far too much filler.

I’ve not listened to it in awhile but when it came out I thought Post Pop Depression was the best music Homme had written in ages. The band he assembled for Iggy on that worked so perfectly.
Also, the episode of No Reservations where he takes Anthony Bourdain on a tour of the desert and all the music soundtracking it is from the first album. Very cool television.

Times New Roman has some good tunes, does remind me of the Era Vulgaris sound. I know they'll never make another Rated R and SFTD, however they did a great job to replace that sound last night.

Loved Elton’s glasto set by and large and given his age… fantastic! Move over Paul, the bitch is back! Yes the guests (flowers possibly exception) were underwhelming but can’t help but think he probably wanted acts that would complement him rather than upstage him, just a shame they made for weaker parts to the set.
Should have invited Ben Folds imo…

That young fella who got to come on and play his own song made the mistake of letting the audience sing the chorus, despite none of them being there to see him and thus not knowing the words

I bought Songs for the Deaf because Go with the Flow was in GT4. It is the only QOTSA album I've ever listened to, and is still in my gym album rotation.
Probably should try some of their other albums.
