So we can use this for all car buying advice. Guess I'll start, need a family car for two sprogs and plenty of boot space. Should I go MPV or Estate? Budget is 6k
Does any have any good recommendations, I'm swaying towards a Zafira/Picasso. But are MPVs just glorified estate cars?
What happened to me, I used to have dreams!

A Dacia whatever it is over there. Cheap, reliable and a bit tatty. We have one.

Timely. My old Focus did not behave well last week so my wife has actually said I need to get something better. Kids are both adults (more or less) so I can actually get something a bit fun. Needs to be reasonably reliable. Leasing might be an option.

Zafiras are for people who hate living

If you want something boring and reliable go Japanese or Korea, manual and petrol. Best bet is a Toyota Avensis estate (millions of cabbies can't be wrong!) or a Honda Accord estate.
MPV wise I think the Kia & Hyundai ones (the names escape me,) seem OK and to be fair you do see a lot of zafiras about so plenty of choice.
I do have a soft spot for the Dacias too, mechanically simple and cheap to buy and run.

You'll end up with a Zaffira but wish you'd got a Golf. Depends what you mean by plenty of boot space really. I drive a golf, I'd see if you could up your budget a tiny bit and go for a mk7 2l diesel, it's got tons of kit as standard, great to drive and extremely practical.

The few times I’ve had to have one of my cars towed I always ask the dude “so what brands do you have to tow least”, it’s always been Toyota and Honda.

Don't think I've had a car towed since about 2006.

I did do a search, I'll shut this thread down. But there is some decent info here.
