I got the first riddle wrong and the way she looked at me and moved her head really creeped me out. She does that if you even get them right! I’m not the only one that finds it unsettling then.

Found it a bit annoying that she's used in YouTube thumbnails for bloody everything (digital foundry's latest vid for example), so there was no chance of me having a nice surprise with the creature design.
Finally got back up there last night after getting halfway there and realising I don't have a portcrystal with me, then going back to checkpoint town to grab one.

Yeah that's a bit shit but it honestly didn't lessen the impact too much in my case. The fact it was such a surreal and imposing sight and in a bit of map that I just happened upon by clambering over some rocks meant that I was still taken aback slightly. Such an awesome voice though.
In other news I grabbed a bit of time to have an explore and think I went somewhere I wasn't meant to be yet. En route of course both Billy and another random pawn I had at the time managed to find themselves on a bridge as it collapsed sending them both to their temporary doom. Me and the mage I had continued on but with Billy absent I couldn't even camp. It got dark, of course, and we found ourselves beset by monsters from the outset. Somehow we both managed to keep going and made it to our destination, despite my health being down to about a fifth. A destination which of course happened to be inhabited by a drake. I called it quits there and lobbed a ferrystone up to get the fuck back to Battahl. I was quite impressed though. Just a mage and an archer and we managed to fend off groups of ice harpies, wolves, orc things, bandits, skeletons and even an ogre at one point. The archer is stupidly strong if you simply aim for the head. You'll not only stun enemies but big chunks of health fall away in moments.

Are you sticking with archer all the way then? I'm not sure what to do after I've maxed out MS. The fighter and warrior classes don't really appeal to me. I like the sound of magick archer but I think that's a late game option. I could try a sorcerer I guess.

I think Archer is my favourite so far, I've maxed that and MS. I don't mind MS, but something isn't clicking. The shield bubble is great though, especially when combined with the stamina drain skill, basically means you can be permanently invincible. Need to go back and max thief. I want magical archer, but I don't think I'll bother with anything else on this playthrough.
Finally decided to press on with the main quest and it's a bit annoying that I've explored everywhere it's asking me to go already! I'm worryingly obsessed by seeing where every path goes and uncovering the map.
I recommend taking Duncan out for a spin, he's a real beefy boy now.

To be honest - and I do this in any game that allows me to change up - I never deviate from whatever I choose first. I'll do something different with a different character, but I'm just sticking with archer. I know the game encourages me to but.. Sod it. I'm taking so long upgrading my gear and buying a better bow and upgrading that, I think it'll be a waste to suddenly swap.

Tried Magick Archer after smashing things as a Mystic Spearhand it felt horrible to be a vocation where I was just tickling things. I have Warfarer but I think I'll wait until I get near the end to try it out.

I went off exploring down by some caves to the sw of vermund, but not far enough to be over by battahl. Found a golem, thankfully weaker than over the border. There's bloody loads of caves and various path options.
I have no port crystal. My main & i are already heavily laden with new ores and loot as it is and there's no towns/inns nearby. Bollocks. 😐
Found a possibly better duospear than the geezer gives you too. Dilemmas to ferry stone or plough on. Why are there no random inns in the wild when you need it!

You can just start following a major road and hope an ox cart turns up.
Something I learned last night: fighting dragons at night is a baaad move. I felled them in the end but fuck me that was the most intense fight I've had in any game for ages. Can't see anything, then BAM dragon right on top you. Party members needing reviving all over the place, everything on fire. Jesus...

I've acquired a few bows in my travels that I quite fancy trying out. I might go back to Archer for a bit once I've mastered MS. I've missed archer since I changed.

Talking of bows and weapons etc. I only just noticed that upgrading in Vermund does different things to upgrading them in Battahl. I've just been upgrading as and when and suddenly realised the icons were different and they do different things. Also, I don't even know the difference between bows. I just buy the one that does the most damage. Probably missing something.

You need to unlock the Warfarer class. Locks you out of master skills, but slowly levels up all vocations for when you decide you do want to specialise. All core skills and basic attacks are present and correct depending on weapon. I'm using the duospear with dragons foin or whatever it is for traversal and the bubble shield and a bow for picking enemies off/harpies.
Finished the story, about to go into ng+. Left a fair chunk unexplored so I still have some surprises to look forward to.

From what I've seen, upgrading in Battahl gives bigger bonuses to strength attacks, but not much to magick. It also makes your weapon heavier rather than lighter. Elven gives extra magick but not much strength. Vermnund I guess is a balance between the two.

Never did get to see what the dwarf did as I jumped to final battle almost immediately after unlocking him. In NG+ you can pay someone to remove enhancements from equipment so you can redo them.

I'd only just started getting my finances back in order after upgrading my gear and now you tell me this... FML!
Still need to do the hidden smithy quest, so I suppose I'll at least make sure I do the right upgrades for my next bits of gear.

I love the game but it feels like the devs couldn't be arsed to explain their own game.

Oh man, coming back North from Battahl, unlocking the ladder shortcut and back into the Harve village area. Chucked one pawn into the sea after summoning them as I got the plague thing message, lost my main pawn somehow, more cliff diving I think. Then found something more irritating than the Harpies- the Owl Wankers. Running along a narrow ledge, I managed to drag three with me into a small recess… where there were MORE of them and they just took turns diving at me, completely stun locked, no idea where my last pawn had gone but no way of firing into the sky, so, staggering around, bang, another hit, then another one, working through healing items trying to keep some health in the hope there’s a gap where I can stand up and twat things.
Then a goblin appears and is BLOODY LAUGHING AT ME. Pointing and creasing up. I manage to get standing up and think about hitting him but the shitbirds are still everywhere so I run in an attempt to find a corner or something where I can have a breather. And run into MORE goblins who, naturally, down me immediately. When I eventually get up there’re now also three bats that want shares in the smacking me in the face business too. After what felt like seven hours I managed to get to my feet and get a spell off and buy myself a bit of room to run again and this time head back where I came from, stumble into the one remaining pawn who FINALLY helps distract things enough that I can get away from the shitshow behind me. Chaos.

Back on my PS5. I'm miles behind you lot. Without giving too much away, how do I do this masquerade quest? I have the mask and a fancy jacket and trousers but I don't know if that's the right garb, or even if it's the right day yet.

I love the game but it feels like the devs couldn't be arsed to explain their own game. Honestly I only paid attention after 4 days playing the game when I noticed there were different stamps when upgrading equipment then I read the info at the top of the screen. I figured out the order and then saw a post on Reddit which confirmed it. It feels a bit like From Software games where it seems like discovering and sharing info is the basis of the game but it misses that mp mode in their games which aids exploration with each other so it seems needlessly obtuse.
