That's pretty cool, I guess, but 2049 was already set in a dying world. That was the entire point in my opinion. Everyone who could (i.e. rich enough) had already left Earth, the rest were in decaying cities stricken by power outages. It was why the film was so lifeless (in the literal sense).
2049 was basically set during the slow extinction of mankind.
50 years on is short enough to feasibly have the same level of decay seen, but I'd be slightly annoyed if it reverts to OG Blade Runner feel.

They just can't leave it, or anything, alone can they?

Well, i was worried about 2049, but it turned out to be great, hope this one doesn't tarnish it.

Based on how Prometheus and later Alien films have gone I don't hold out hope.

I'm sure it'll be great with Ridley Scott's involvement. Just look at the fantastic direction he took the Alien franchise in.
/edit Haha, snap!

The problem is without a big budget/real sets cyberpunk stuff always looks a bit shit. And a massive massive part of Blade Runner is getting the aesthetic right.
And yeah Ridley Scott is obviously rubbish now too.

Total Recall 2070 did a half decent job of a Blade Runner TV show, obviously the TR rights were a lot cheaper to get than BR but it was very much a Blade Runner show. It was over 20 years ago though so it almost certainly hasn't aged well but it's pretty much forgotten these days any way.
I just hope Scott is banking the cheque and not directly involved, his recent science fiction efforts (other than The Martian) have been poor.

I doubt Scott will have much to do with it, he is working on some film about napoleon and he’s 84. There’s only so much he can do at this point.
Pretty sure he’s said he didn’t like 2049 very much.

Ridley Scott being involved with something isn't necessarily a mark of quality. Look at Raised By Wolves.

I tried on episode of the cgi/anime series (Black Lotus) which is supposed to be 2032 and between the 2 movies, but it was pants.
Wasn't that Netflix Altered Carbon thing basically a blade runner tv show?

Considering 2049 was excellent, there's reason enough to be optimistic I think.
Also bit harsh to say Scott is "rubbish now". He's always made great films and mediocre films. He made two last year which were both quite well reviewed, and he's worth his fee just for how grumpy he is when being interviewed.

I really liked Raised By Wolves, season 2 is out now although don’t think Scott is involved anymore.
I’m interested in the BR series, even if it’s not amazing it should look the part.. and along with Lord of The Rings it’s more reason for me to use my Prime subscription.

Isn’t there an Alien series coming too?

I'll admit I was slightly confused as there was a series called "Raised by Wolves" written semi-autobiographically by Caitlin Moran (which I liked), which preceded the sci-fi show executively-produced by Ridders, which tbh totally flew over my head, so I had no idea was even a thing.
The Caitlin Moran thing would have been very un-Ridley, hence the confusion.
The fact that the Ridley Raise by Wolves wasn't even on my radar speaks maybe to my own lackadaisical and apathetic approach to life, but also just to how frustratingly fragmented everything is these days.
