What's amusing about Jersey Girl (which I've not seen, funnily enough) is that they started marketing it on the back of "Bennifer", then Gigli came out and everyone hated it, so Smith had to do a reverse ferret and say "no no, she dies really early on, it's not a Bennifer movie!"
I do think that film probably was hurt by the reaction to Gigli in particular and Affleck/Lopez in general. And, as you say, for not being a Snoochy Boochy movie.

Fairly sure I've seen Jersey Girl and, you know what, it's alright.

Although having said its not a J&SB movie this trailer is a massive disservice to it too. No wonder it flopped.

Red State is underrated.

I think I’ll need to dive in on the run of darker stuff he did like Red State because looking at IMDB I’m not 100% if I’ve seen any of them. I’m sure I must have but I don’t remember them.

Cop Out is TERRIBLE, but a lot of that goes to Bruce Willis just sleepwalking through the film.

Everyone slags off Bruce Willis for not giving a fuck anymore, but if you got paid a couple of million dollars to fly to Budapest for a weekend and shoot three scenes in a tiny action movie, and absolutely nobody cared if you made an effort, you'd do it too.

Red State wasn’t bad. The bit with John Goodman talking about two dogs at the end is probably the best scene Smith has ever done.

The way Smith tells it, people very much do care that he puts no effort, but they're too scared to speak up.

Now that you mention it:
If they're basing that on stuff like this, then yeah:

I'm just now realizing that Red State isn't the movie I thought it was. I thought it was the one about the russians / chinese / whoever invading the US.
Maybe I'll give it a go sometime.
(Watching Red State that is, not invading the US)

I'm not saying I couldn't, I'm just not sure it's worth the effort.

On the plus side: - Taco Bell On the minus side: - Become responsible for dealing with all america's shit.
You seem to be assuming I'd need a cult and munitions. They don't look so tough. I could take them by myself if I *really* wanted to.

You would be outmatched in the looney stakes, however many anime characters you could find

I’m more worried that Taco Bell is listed as a plus. It’s horrendous.

After reading some of the comments on the RLM review of his films I think he’s not doing so well.

Physically. Like, for scraping or wiping or something. I just figured it was something futuristic and sci-fi, possibly involving lasers or zero-point energy.

I'd always assumed it was one seashell to activate the bidet, and the other two would be your choice of warm or cold blasts of air drying, but now I know better. Never question a well made instructional diagram.

Have always enjoyed his films, but almost as a guilty pleasure. Clerks and Dogma are arguably the only objectively 'good' ones?
I liked Chasing Amy a lot, and Mallrats is an enjoyable easy watch. The rest suffer from a definite dip in quality.
