When did it become popular to start referring to people by personaly types Classic [insert star sign] response . I'm also an INFJ according to that Myers-Briggs psuedoscience, doesn't seem a very rare. At least you don't have to worry about finding a Christmas present now. I have a theory that Myers-Briggs only attracts people in certain categories

It only attracts psychos in terms of referencing it for dating.

Just received a message from her saying that she hopes I won't say anything negative about her to other people at work. That was...odd. Kinda annoyed me that she would even think I would do something like that. Tell everyone in the office she smells like freshly sliced jabuticaba. No one will know if it's a compliment or an insult.

I read that as freshly sliced Jessica Alba. Make of that what you will.

I guess, but she's even said we shouldn't message each other anymore, honestly it was kinda out of the blue she last messaged me on Friday night and it was funny and playful and then this morning this U-turn of a message. I don't understand people anymore, TBF maybe I just a dodged a bullet. if it’s any help, my ex (also INFJ) was similar. Fine on Sunday, incommunicado by Tuesday and dumped me via email on Thursday. Just had a very promising first date... all this MBTI-type talk is making me nervous now.

Honestly, if your personality types don't match up you might as well just bin it off now. You might think you had a good first date you didn't. The facts don't lie

Look at it this way, the human race has been successfully meeting and getting married for millennia before Meyers-Briggs popped up

So..I've managed to get myself a date with a colleague at work. This can only go well I imagine. Get in. After separating from my wife and dipping my toe in the waters of Hinge, I wound up going on a date with someone from work who's way out of my league. And a (very liberal) Muslim. We've been seeing eachother seriously for a few months now and have just started telling people at work. Her (more conservative) family are less than pleased she's seeing a white guy who's divorcing and has two kids. I am painting her mum's skirting boards on Sunday in a haphazard attempt to demonstrate that I'm not a scumbag. Follow up plz

Her dad was so embarrassed that I'd offered to come over and paint, he did it himself.
We just went to the Lakes for the weekend - awful, awful trip. The storm, there were loads of flies in the place, then there was a power cut.
But we did see some amazing scenery and had some amazing food, particularly at Rogan & Co.
The AirBnB host agreed to refund us in full so we're going away for new year.

Making an enemy of her dad is always a good first move.

Oh he doesn't like me because I'm white and divorced. But helpfully she can't stand her dad.

Demasculinising the patriarch and forcing him to decorate is a bold move. What are you doing for Christmas?

I've always loved how people (usually liberal minded white people) forget how people of colour can be massively racist. And this is coming from a mixed race person who received racism from black people because the other part of my ethnicity is Asian.

It's racist to think that other races can't be racist.

I'd always say that in the UK at least, it's only white people that can be racist because racism is ultimately about the power dynamic - but I've been warned to expect a fair bit of discrimination.
I've started learning a fair bit about Islam and her culture and there are some really great parts of it, as well as some really deeply conservative parts that I find troubling. Like it's fine for a Muslim dude to marry a white chick but absolutely not allowed for a Muslim woman to marry outside of the faith.

If a black person working in recruitment in the UK doesn't hire someone because they're Asian what do we call that then?

Deeply conservative

I'd call it discrimination, but again it's because I see racism as being rooted in institutional power dynamics.
Ultimately it's semantics and largely irrelevant outside of politics seminars.

I can see the argument you make, but in my mom's case being married to a Muslim man she experienced straight up racism from his family. There was no subtlety there.

Jumping back on topic in this thread I'll share a recent success story (so far). Think I posted back in the old place that out of the blue I got dumped via text just before covid happened after being with someone for three years. I left it a while and started hitting up usual places like pof, bumble etc and for a year I've had no luck. Either no replies, or too many differences from talking, and the loveable being ghosted when things were going really well. I was about to have a break until the new year when I got a message from someone outside of the distance I would usually be happy with but I gave it a shot. Talked none stop for over a week and really hit it off with loads in common. Had a date last Friday which went well and ended up back at hers for a coffee (only coffee, not of the GTA hot style). Meeting her again this Friday and she's cooking for us and having some drinks so I've been invited to stay over if I wanted so I can drink and relax too.
Everything's coming up Mil...Facey
