The new PES? First gameplay was shown off earlier and let's say it could still use some work.
Obvious dig at eFootball at the end to say it's out when it's ready. Free to play, so at least the price is right. The trailer does give a focus to online football though and for me it's all about the offline master league mode that is one of my big comfort zone with games. This would need to have something similar to get me interested. Also needs an edit mode like PES if it's gonna have any legs.

Jesus it's been that long? There's an open beta for this running this weekend on PS and Xbox. Genuinely have no clue how it plays as there's nobody really talking about it other than paid streamers with early access. With FIFA 2k incoming, it has stiff competition but lord knows we need another footie game now that PES is well...shuffling along. Hoping there's a single player component to this and not just online FUT. Guess we'll see, I'll post impressions at some point but yeh, curious to see if you all will play too.

The fall of PES is pretty insane.

The fall of PES is pretty insane. I actually play eFootball most weeks, but the coop mode is the one we play it for, and it's literally locked behind an event that only runs Thursday to Sunday night 🙃

It's a minor travesty in life just how bad football games have become driven purely by rampant profiteering. It doesn't matter so much with the FPS genre, and games like CoD, where there are plenty of alternatives. But when there was only ever two decent football games and both have been enshitified to destruction, it really sucks. I would pay good money for a football game that I can play couch PVP/co-op and a Master League type mode. Nothing else please, that'll do.

In fact, if Konami just gave PES5 a new lick of paint, I'd be all over it.

Funnily enough I recently played PES6 with an option file that updated everything to current squads and players. Still a blast in local multiplayer

Yeah I dunno about this. No offline option to start, purely their ultimate team equivalent which I've never been interested in. First match against someone that had a much much better team than mine, even the player cards were animated. Got absolutely trounced. Next 2 games were more even but gave me more time to see what I liked and didn't like. And there's something there, a Skeleton of a game, which could be improved. But passing did not feel good, nor did shooting and definitely not tackling.
Presentation pretty barebones, commentary is hilariously awful, wanna make a guess that it's AI driven.
