Probably the most hyped I've been for anything on either cinema or tv since RotK... earlier trailers had me a little worried with the Hobbit-ness about them, the last two though.... oh my.

Hands up who forgot Lenny Henry was going to be in this... I didn't even know as I've had no enthusiasm to look this up much before, but Lenny Henry being in it actually got my interest. |

YT keeps recommending channels that are giving this a kicking based on cast members praising its inclusivity. They don't seem incelly but I couldn't stomach enough (I watched a few mins of two of them) to notice any dogwhistles

Somebody like heelsvsbabyface or whatever he was called is more obvious.
Once stumbled across some rant by Nerdrotic in which he was blaming the Democrats for ruining California (homeless everywhere etc.) and more or less implying that the Republicans would've done a better job. Then he went on to say positive things about Elon Musk...

On Facebook and Instagram at least the comments mostly appear to be from Eastern Europeans that are furious that Tolkien's world is now inhabited by non white people/elves/dwarves.
A series of books about different races coming together to defeat fascism, is now accused of being too woke in its modern TV form.
I hate people.

I went through a brief period of a broken YouTube algorithm during the lead up to Discovery coming out. I stumbled upon a channel called Midnight something or other and it was going about leaks about the troubled production of Discovery and how it was going to be terrible. All seemed reasonable analysis, but after watching a few of his videos it became clear that he was actually pissed off about a black woman being the lead. For about a month or so after I was bombarded by videos of angry white men shouting about Discovery making Star Trek "WOKE". |

People who get upset about the Rings of Power being too woke should watch the Cyber Nerds and Struggle Nation. I think it's great that more people who love the books are able to identify with the characters in them.
Maybe Tolkien didn't write that Durin's wife was black, but he also didn't say they weren't. Even if he had, he wrote it when he did and when the world was a different place.
Though, they're more than capable of messing it up in other ways. Hopefully it will be good.

The cast needs to reflect the diversity of the world we inhabit. It’s fucking stupid to try and preach otherwise. Those types of people that get outraged about such things need to fuck themselves. I’m really looking forward to this and have been for some time.

Given that the score was such a big part of what made the movies great, I’m happy that the soundtrack so far sounds great.
Looking forward to this now - wasn’t sure when the first images started coming out but it the latest teasers have drawn me in.

Thanks for posting this. I think the music isn't the best, but the trailer content had a few nice extra bits in such as more about meteor man. The comments are just dumb. I'm looking forward to it and just hope they do better than the Wheel of Time series which is my main concern as that was...not as good as I hoped it would be.

The shots of characters slowly turning to the camera work well enough in a trailer, but can't see them working well in a regularly paced show. There are a fucking lot of those kind of shots for such a short trailer!
I didn't mind it either, poor choice of music aside.
