Yep, the latest Forza and Halo games did not feel like games that spent 6 years in development with AAA budgets at release.
Halo's campaign felt like it finished in the middle of act 2 (left me deflated as it was really getting in to it) and its multiplayer was bare bones and riddled with issues.
And Forza released with tonnes of reused assets and issues with a barebones boring campaign.

I think that's down to management both studio and executive level not keeping an eye on their games enough and the brain drain that occurs when you put people on contract work.

Sure fans have been disappointed in every FM release since about FM5?. Then it's several years of fixing it before doing it all again with the next release.

Then you'd have to ask what's going on with Turn 10 that's not going on with Playground Games.

Yeah Playground seem to have nailed it from the start but I'm sure the last few FM games have followed the same cycle.

Infinites campaign was quite well received in general. I honestly preferred Halo 5. I much prefer a linear path than a pretend open world that occasionally locks you in a metal box when it’s time for a bit of story.

I find Forza Motorsport to be sterile and dull. Horizon is good fun though.

Horizon 4 I absolutely rinsed. I've barely dipped my toes in 5.

There's a lack of structure in Horizon, it's just a map full of icons. And if you ask Anna to come up with whatever, she sends you to event that requires you to buy DLC.

Then you'd have to ask what's going on with Turn 10 that's not going on with Playground Games. Playground Games is based in the UK, so I assume MS can't enforce the same developer churn and poor working practices on them.

Horizon 4 I absolutely rinsed. I've barely dipped my toes in 5. 3 and 4 got it exactly right for me. 5 chucks way too many icons at you.

It's shit that you can't even buy 3 anymore unless you can get it 2nd hand and have an Xbox with a disc tray.

I liked 3's sense of progression and more curated races, I get with 4 and more so 5 they want to give you much more freedom and choice, but it gets to a point it hinders the variety of experiences on offer rather than help it.
If that makes any sense.

Yeah I own 2-5 on disc. It's pretty clear(now days) those games will be allowed to get delisted by MS. Guessing 4 will be gone in the next couple years.

How would that work if the game is delisted online?

Key will still be valid due to 'digital magic'.
Think that's why studios often recall any unsold keys/vouchers.

You can still redeem codes for it, you just can't buy it directly.
Can confirm code works. Can't believe I just spent £30 on a game you can get for £7 from ebay just to test things for you.

It does feel like Turn 10 have given up trying to improve their forza games, 5 had to be out ASAP for the xbox one launch window iirc, which explains a lot but 6, 7 and the recent one have always been better graphics but never the single player side
with Horizon, I do think the formula is getting stale now. 5 felt like FH4 with an mexico expansion pack. even with 4, the races against trains, planes is the same old thing and very scripted

Then you'd have to ask what's going on with Turn 10 that's not going on with Playground Games. From what I've heard something that does go on at PG is absolutely bollock busting mandatory crunch to get the Horizon games out the door.
I'm actually curious how PG will fare now a bunch of the founders have moved on.

Oh wow. Well that's not great and I guess because MS are so hands off that stuff is rampant.

Maybe less crunch now those founders have gone?
Hopefully they nail Fable and get to work on that for a while and give Horizon a break.

Seeing as MS want those "high impact titles" I heavily doubt it.

Urgh, did not know about the crunch at PlayGround Games, had it in my mind they were a well oiled machine like Insomniac for some reason.

According to the several ex staff I've met, yes. They'd apparently have a rule of "nobody goes home until the bug tracker gets below this number", etc. Apparently it varied somewhat by department, but it was worst for the art department as far as I can tell. I was personally warned off taking an application there further a couple of years ago by a few people familiar with the studio, and after that I met ex employees who had extremely little nice to say either. As far as I've been able to tell they have a bit of a rep. At least on the FH side of the business, it's possible the Fable side is operated differently.

Ah lovely, what a great way to build resentment to your QA department for no reason.
