See saying stuff like this isn't "winning" like you think it is. It just shows everyone you have the mentality of a child. I don't even really disagree with this, but... you're a mod, right? Isn't the point to... moderate discussions, rather than getting involved and insulting people? It's almost as if someone with a long history of being insulting, aggressive and a bully isn't ideal mod material.

So, who will Sony buy next? Is there anyone people give a shit about?
From my limited understanding, Western acquisitions are much more likely than Japanese.

Also I've always seen Playstation as being the more Japanese focused console so if anyone, I'd see them going for Capcom or Square Enix

I'd suggest Kojima Productions are ripe for the picking, but didn't they sign some sort of deal with MS not long ago or did that fall apart?

People say that about Konami and I just thinks its blind nostalgia talking. Kojimas given enough for Metal Gear games he doesnt want to do anymore. Team Silent isnt even around to make new Silent Hill games, there hasn't even been a good one since 3. Castlevania I'll grant, as you could maybe actually do a 2D game and a 3D attempt with maybe a Souls like game. eFootball is...fucked.

I listened to the DF podcast recently (yes I watch those and understand about 10% of what they're talking about) and they spoke about how Microsoft buying someone from Japan would be extremely difficult. Something about Japanese law making it incredibly hard for Japanese companies to be acquired by international business.
Not impossible just a bit unlikely.
If this is true, I would think that would leave Sony a bit of an open goal in that territory.
Square or Capcom for me. That would be huge.
Not that I want this to happen, I prefer the idea of customer choice.
Sounds like something may happen sooner rather than later though, Jim Ryan said in an interview yesterday more are coming.

Bandai Namco would be a big one. All the anime games. All the Arc Sys fighting games. Tekken. And the biggie, From Software games, exclusive to one platform.

I doubt Kojima would want to be owned by anyone again any time soon. Konami could easily just sell a bunch of IPs as it doesn't look like they will be going all in with gaming again.

Bandai Namco are just an overseas publishing partner for From Software, they self publish in Japan, ownership of Bandai Namco makes zero difference.
It's like thinking that Microsoft buying Activision makes any difference if there are further Sekiro games (it doesn't).

Pretty sure From are part of the Kadokawa Group, not self owned.

Regardless they're not owned by Bandai Namco as the point stands.

They haven't really been more Japanese focused since the PS3. Just so happens they get more Japanese third party titles because Japanese players don't buy Xboxes. Nintendo's by far the most Japanese focused platform owner.

They would get Team Silent back together, Kojima would rediscover his love of Metal Gear Solid and Iga would be brought on for Symphony of the Night 2. DREAM

Surely they're more USA focused than ever now, they're game headquarters is there and it makes most of their sales.

Definitely western focused. Half their teams are European, the higher ups, Ryan and Hulst specficially, are Euros. But yeah. They're basically a western company these days.

Sega must have some gems worth buying? As well as those already mentioned, Sega are also weirdly one of the few publishers caring about PC strategy. The Total War games are probably the big ones, but also the Company of Heroes games. You could probably count Football Manager as tangentially connected to the genre. Those would be a good fit with Microsoft's past dabbling with RTS and connections with PC gaming.

This seems pretty bad for gaming. I know there's the whole "Gamepass is such good value for money" thing but there's a hidden cost for the industry generally. People are worried enough to actively want Sony to start buying things up just to "protect" them from Microsoft. Gamepass a bit of a trojan horse. We need Neil Young to boycott Gamepass
