Actually liking the new island, and bikes are awesome. Looks really good, more realistic in places, have they moved it over to unreal 5? Also can't wait to unlock Geralt too. It has indeed had a makeover.

I'm a bit meh on it at the moment. Seems like overload with all the stuff they've added, perks, etc... That's probably just it being new. Tie to die seems much shorter, what with everyone having epic weapons all the time. That's probably just me sucking. Bikes seem cool. They've moved to to Unreal 5.1 I heard... though that means it is more laggy on my laptop  I'm also rather meh on the battlepass, though I said that last time too and it kinda grew on me. There are a couple of ok skins, a cool glider and a couple of ok emotes... but nothing essential, and Geno (sic?) looks totally dumb, so I have no motivation to complete the pass this season. I think I'll take a break from it, pop in from time to time when the kids want to play, and take it much easier this season after overloading last season. I'll grab the witcher skin when that's available, though they have somehow managed to make Geralt look pretty bland. Kids think it's great though. |

I thought the BP is cool, doom guy!
It does feel more brutal too, feel like I'm constantly in fire fights and not alot of downtime. Had 12 kills in one match last night.
Loads of new systems to push people together too, gold name places, those weird capture the flag flagpoles etc.
Then all the extra meta stuff like perks.
Feels almost like a different game.

That's probably why I didn't like it  Doom Guy isn't bad. Everyone in the pass isn't bad (except the anime and the final dude). But no-one is particularly great either imho. Promised my son I'd play it with him tomorrow, so we'll see... |

"It feels like a different game" was my exact thought. Disorienting, but not necessarily bad; I've only played for two seasons now but I've enjoyed how freely they've changed things up even in that short time.
The new island I'm a bit mixed on. It looks outright beautiful now, especially the foresty parts, but there's also a samey quality to it, the landmarks not really sticking out to me. And the lack of any desert (and excess of snow) was a bit disappointing.
All the new stuff is immensely fun, though. Only wish the dirt bike had a tinny little radio.

I've been quite enjoying the new season although I can imagine if you do each season it might not feel as much.
I must admit, this fucking hammer was a pain in the area to start with but I'm actually loving it now and actively seeking out people to smite them.
I drift in and out and every so often I decided to drop my vbux on the BP if I know I'm going to plug away enough to recoup it. They changed the BO so it's a bit stingier compared to the last time I played and I've got to get to l50. Still, doom suit!

I love the hammer. I once had 5 of them for a laugh, and amazingly you can use all the bounces on one, switch to another, and carry on!

I wonder if that explains why Fortnite has screwed up both my kids accounts over the last week. Asking for their birthday, and then changing their username to something random and disconnecting them from all their friends, who now also have mainly random usernames so it's impossible to know who is who. Oh, and adding a parental controls pin to each... which wouldn't be a problem if i hadn't already set up parental controls for both of them. The actual tightening of things like voice chat isn't a bad thing, but they've done it in a really annoying way. Plus of course non of my kids put in their correct dates of birth because (a) they've been told not to share personal information, and (b) they were worried they'd get locked out of Fortnite. sigh |

Other than the bikes, the new season isn't doing it for me.
Maybe I just burned out last season, but the new island seems kinda dull, most of the new weapons seem kinda dull, and the odd 2-3 times I've played it I've gotten killed by twats with those annoying hammers, or twats with some OP anime kamehameha power.

I spent most of the past 2 hours farting around with sensitivity settings and it's improved it but then I'm just not dextrous enough to swap about my weapons quick enough and regardless of slot settings they just wherever they want to I spebd loads of time scrolling with the mousehweel
On the PS4 though, I can swap weapons like a machine and headshot with the bow across the map. WTF?
Maybe I just need to go into some deathmatch and practice

I used to be able to switch weapons in games like quake using the number keys, but I'm obviously out of practice for that because for fortnite I just use the mousewheel. 90% of my deaths are from scrolling past the shotgun and suddenly finding myself bringing a pickaxe to a gunfight. The Xmas presents? Yep. You can catch up on any missed days though.
There was also a free xmas skin if you're on PC, but I don't know if that's still there.

Can you not just use your PS4 pad on the PC? Is it smart enough to match me up with other pc pad players I wonder. I know the co soles have something like this prevent m+k users going up against pad players |

No idea, but I usually play with me on m+k on PC and my kids on Switch.
The amount of auto-aim on switch means they probably have the advantage.

I'm on holiday at my mum's for Christmas, didn't fancy lugging my ps5 or taking my laptop with me, so thought I would play it on my switch.
Boy was I wrong. Personally I think it's shocking, but maybe kids have a better tolerance for it than I do.

I dunno, I've been playing games at 22-30fps for about 20 years, so I probably wouldn't notice. I suspect that's about what my PC gets for Fortnite anyway, at least since the recent update.

Yikes, yeah I m already docked. It makes me a bit motion sick, and in frantic fights it's so difficult to aim.
I will see if there I can increase that aim assist setting you mentioned earlier though, might help offset it.
Will be going home tomorrow, so will be back on the lovely ps5/pc version soon anyway 😅

I think if you've never experienced the high-end quality, you don't miss it.
It's like listening to music on cheap earbuds for years and thinking they sound fine. Then getting some high-end ones, then being unable to go back.
Having never experienced 60fps in my life, I don't miss it and can't imagine that it's anything special.

Probably, but then I'd spend all my time being unhappy about things that I can quite happily enjoy at the moment. Like the way I can't listen to anything on regular earbuds these days. Damn you expensive earbuds!
Or the way I was quite happy with this keyboard until I got a proper keyboard for my work pc a few months back, and now I hate typing on this thing!

Its very difficult to go back to Switch.
You'll have to adapt gameplay significantly right from landing.
It's a console that seems to have been a little ignored by Epic given how well it runs on a phone.
