On which platform? Didn't they already have that on Switch? Not that I've tried it...

PS5, PS4. I think any system that has a controller with a gyroscope can now use it.

Bold of them to disable building in the latest season for the next 9 days at least I like the sprinting and mantling too, could be a fun season.

All real cash purchases on Fortnite from now to April 3 are going to Ukraine, which is nice of them. So if anyone wants to stock up on v-bucks or gift a battle pass then now might be a good time.

I have started playing this in the last couple of weeks due to the Zero Build mode. I'm having a blast, the movement is great. I can actually kill people now that it isn't a whirl of building. If I'm honest it's really shown that a lot of people can't shoot straight if they can't build instant cover.
Loving it, even got the Battle Pass. Genuinely surprised how much I like it and some of the creative modes are a good laugh in a larger group.

Recently got into this too, though I did grimice as I got some v-bucks to get the battle pass.
Been having a blast playing it with some old school friends, though tonight we really struggled after winning a few matches the first night we played.
One of them joked, that we probably got put onto harder servers, is that a thing?

Ah, it definitely felt harder last night, we went form winning or placing near top, to getting slaughtered.
Maybe we're just shit and not as good as we thought we were 😅

When I watch my boy play with his mates, they always make sure the lowest ranked player out of the lot of them is the squad leader in the lobby so they get put in an easier game. It could just be a playground myth, but he swears it works! There must be some skill-based matchmaking going on somewhere.

From that point, if you don't squander your v-bucks, you should get enough v-bucks from each battle pass to get the next one free. I think we spent a fiver on the first battle pass for my daughter, and she's gotten a year or so of battle passes and dozens of skins etc.. out of that without the need to spend anything again. I won my first match in fortnite. My daughter won her first match. I'm rather suspicious that they somehow fix it so everyone wins their first match or two. After that, yeah there's some kind of matchmaking so it can get harder.

I hate to feel like an 11 year old yelling “Those were just bots, noob!” but… I have heard on more than one occasion that the first few games every new player gets are either heavily or exclusively bot matches.
I’m also pretty sure I’ve met bots in regular play a few times, even after playing for years. You sometimes see what seems like very scripted behaviour- one time, I was leaving a match and decided to drop a legendary gun and some shields in front of an opponent who was trying to shoot me but consistently missing. I did the universal action for friendship (crouching up and down quickly) and backed up so they could get the items… and they just walked right through them, still shooting. I know it could have also been some kid using touch controls who didn’t get it, but stuff like that does make me wonder.

New players do indeed get put in partial bot lobbies. I had a mate that had never played before in my party and we slaughtered everyone. Fortnite tracker said it was a bot match.

Re battle passes, yeah that's my thought, you unlock enough v-bucks by page 5, so hopefully can just keep doing that every season until I get bored 😅

The new season isn't going to convert anyone who isn't already on-board, but I do like the ridable wolves and boars, and the reality seeds could be more useful and interesting than the tents from the last couple of seasons.
Reality seeds - you "plant" them somewhere on the map, then return there in subsequent matches and harvest the fruit for increasingly rare items. But it seems that anyone can come along and destroy your seed, so it might be back to a sapling the next time you visit. Haven't yet worked out if the best tactic is to put it somewhere out of the way that others won't stumble on.
Also there's a new "Hammer" assault rifle which looks a bit like the Gears Hammerburst - but not enough to be an official tie-in. And it doesn't shoot like one, it's full auto.

Ahh I wondered what they were, a friend and I thought it was where people got killed in the alien bit, as you can pop the seeds and get their stuff.

Played a bit yesterday, won a solo match which is rare for me, so I can only assume it was populated with bots.

This Indiana Jones temple challenge thing is irritating. I managed it once through dumb luck, but now I have to do it again for another challenge and it’s a nightmare. Either you land and get into a protracted firefight with 5 opponents who are also trying to do it, or you wait and then run out of time trying to do it in the storm.
I imagine it’s great in a squad of 4 on microphones. because they could split up and get one relic each.

Grab meds and wait till everyone's moved on or just glide there later if your team isn't there and hope you've got free entry

Kamehameha is crazy OP.
Just started playing again after a 12 month break. No build and the sprint/mantle are awesome!
Anyway if anyone ever fancies a team rumble we could put a 3/4 team up for some laughs. I should warn you that I play a reckless Leroy Jenkins approach rather than tactically!

I’d be up for a team rumble or squad match sometime.
Agree that the kamehameha is overpowered- it’s not so bad if you can see someone powering up and shoot them first, but people are using it 50 ft up after doing the nimbus cloud and that’s pretty unstoppable.
Generally this update’s been great though- even the DbZ area in Creative mode was fun to play around in. Jeff Gerstmann was saying on his podcast that Epic really nail their tie-ins better than most, by adding to the gameplay in interesting ways rather than just adding a cosmetic and that’s it. I’m inclined to agree - just this season we’ve had the boulders and temple courtesy of Indiana Jones, the return of lightsabers and blasters along with Darth Vader, and now the Dragonball stuff. It does keep it interesting.

Oh and I also play exclusively in zero build mode these days. Really pleased it still seems busy, I was worried it would die off once they gave players a choice but it’s still quick to get a match so I guess it’s still popular.

I think people got a bit tired of build battles. I could build reasonably well but was never a quick edit guy. Videos at the final 2 or 3 at competitive levels just didn't look like a fun mechanic. Build/build/edit/edit/edit/shotgun x 100
No build is just "fun" and I think a lot of the older pro's really enjoy it.
