If I felt that BoJo and Carrie Johnson weren't attention whores, I would expect that the reason we haven't heard from her is because she has been getting some fairly nasty abuse. I wouldn't blame her for not wanting to step back a bit. PM spouses don't normally get as much coverage as she does.
As I say though, that would require her to not like being in the limelight and probably for him to care enough to not want her to receive negative press, two positions that don't appear likely from what we know of them.
The fact she didn't accompany him to the polling during the locals is the biggest hint that they likely are separated. The Goldsmith thing would be be wonderfully soap opera, especially if they were having a kid, but unlikely to be true.

It *is* noteworthy that she's out of the limelight, and she does not strike me the type to avoid it. If she felt uncomfortable about that, I think she would have ditched out of view way before now. Nothing has obviously changed in the coverage of her in recent months, and she's made a career for herself pushing her public profile.
So I think *something* going on. Inevitably I'm not the only person thinking this and I'm sure there are plenty of people happy to spin stories to fill the void, and social media does the rest. Maybe she's got adult onset acne or something and is ashamed to show her face.
