I used to love the old Eurogamer wipeout leaderboards, I did alright but a few of the other members had crazy top 100 times.

That’s really nice. This is pretty much exactly how my teen brain saw it in 1995 when I got my PS1.

That looks great, i had to go and find the original intro to see the differences and yeah like simple i thought they were going to be closer. At the time though Wipeout definitely caught the wave, it was everywhere. The OST is still good these days and the style and aesthetic of the series is amazing today.
I think i preferred Wipeout 2097 because your ship didn't stop dead when you hit a barrier so it had better "flow".

I really miss those short intro/attract modes that PS1 games used to have. They'd be using visuals that often bore no relation to the actual game, they were just there to get you excited to play the game, whilst also maybe introducing characters, setting the scene and communicating various things about the game rapidly.

Did anyone pick up Pacer?
Everything about screams unofficial Wipeout sequel but the price was a little high for me to gamble on last year

There's some interesting comments by the guy who made the original intro on that first youtube video as well.
There's also BallisticNG on steam, which has a more retro visual style. Was never good enough at this kind of game to say if it's a decent reproduction of the racing though.

That was the sort of vibe thats been holding me back.
I’ve got Omega Collection and it’ll get the odd two or three day binge then goes back on the shelf so no point spending £30 on a similar title to do the same
