Been following this one for a few days, it's first-class schadenfreude, so buckle up your parachute and join me on this nosedive. This guy, some sort of extreme sport type from the noughtys has a crumby youtube channel, he does a bit of sponsored advertising and gets in a plane, which is apparently encrusted in gopros, and crashes. Here's the vid. Now I know nothing about piloting, but this guy's video breaks it down and asks some apparently glaring questions. It's an interesting watch. Here's another from someone else, and this guy goes pretty deep. He somehow has the registration number (N29508) which isn't Mr Jacob. You can see for yourself here: registry.faa.gov/AircraftInquiry/Search/NNumberResult?nNumberTxt=N29508Someone in the comments of the original video thinks it's a publicity stunt paid for by the wallet company and concocted by Mr Jacob and I think they're onto something. Ridge are (allegedly) deleting any comments people are making about this stunt on their socials. Not a lot particularly new here, but this chap's dry delivery is peppered with sick burns: An analysis from some doctor dude.
Quite a few others have jumped on the bandwagon because it's hot news in the avionics scene and, well, you might as well take advantage of that windfall of clicks I spose.

There's no end of clickbait bullshit on his channel, he's just desperate for them clicks. He'll probably lose the channel for reckless behaviour, which goes against the good old TOS, once the FAA have had their way. It's a shame really, I'm looking forward to the hilarious and inevitable apology video.

Aside from Ridge on damage control, deleting tweets in their post replies, there's no activity on the subject from anyone in the potential shit. Don't worry, you'll see it here first if there's anything of substance. Ed: Oh wait, he's turned off the comments for the video in question, so there's that too. Never heard that term before, but it's a keeper! I saw another chap arguing for life imprisonment due to a host of reasons, but I don't think he did a lot of homework. Basically, his argument was "what's the difference between crashing a plane into the twin towers and potting it into a remote ditch?  ??!!!!". I wasn't convinced by it. If this guy gets time, it'll be 18 months tops. And a revoked license. Mayhaps. But it's all about that drama!!! |

I hadn't seen this before but I am a pilot and engine failure is something you train for heavily and a no point do you jump out of a fucking window.
All you do is:
o Trim for best glide speed
o Quick check for issues (switch tanks, fuel pump on, primer locked, etc)
o Pick a suitable field (ideally pasture, into wind, uphill, surrounded by other fields, near a road or house) and depending on height fly a circuit pattern.
o If workload allows, further checks and attempt restart, make a mayday call.
o On approach shut down equipment and unlatch door (in case airframe is buckled)
o Land

In the original video he said he had no water, yet he returned to the plane and didn’t retrieve the water. If you’re asking about the engine. The plane was registered as having one type of engine, but actually had another. He should have registered the engine change. |
