Trump's trying to weasel his way out of the agreed-upon debate in favour of doing one with Faux News.
Running scared, Donnie?

Trump's trying to weasel his way out of the agreed-upon debate in favour of doing one with Faux News. Running scared, Donnie? One before a live audience no less (And I'm hearing "with no fact-checking" as well) Poor Don-Old needs his safe space because mean old Laughing Kamala scares him! And this is the "strong man" that's supposed to be tough on the other world leaders??? MAGAism is one hell of a drug...

Brave Sir Donald ran away, Bravely ran away, away. When a debate reared its ugly head, He bravely turned his tail and fled. Yes, brave Sir Donald turned about, And gallantly he chickened out. Bravely taking to his feet, He beat a very brave retreat. Bravest of the brave, Sir Donald!
Shamelessly stolen from a Reddit comment (not sure how quickly Donnie could actually beat a retreat, mind...)

Nah, original is actually better than I thought he could speak. Remember the nuclear speech all the way back when he supposedly didn't speak Dementian?
"Look, having nuclear — my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart — you know, if you're a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, OK, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I'm one of the smartest people anywhere in the world — it's true! — but when you're a conservative Republican they try — oh, do they do a number — that's why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune — you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we're a little disadvantaged — but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me — it would have been so easy, and it's not as important as these lives are — nuclear is so powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what's going to happen and he was right, who would have thought? — but when you look at what's going on with the four prisoners — now it used to be three, now it's four — but when it was three and even now, I would have said it's all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don't, they haven't figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it's gonna take them about another 150 years — but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us, this is horrible"

The Dems really need to keep hammering the, "Look how weird they are!" angle.
Nice of Trump to provide them with ammunition every time he opens his stupid orange mouth.

Certainly looking like a great pick and not a weird one.
This video is rather good at showing who he is and despite his appearance he's only six months older than Harris.

I knew nothing about him until watching that video and already think he is fantastic.

He seems ok, though I thought they'd want a governor from Michigan, Pennsylvania or Wisconsin as those were considered the key swing states that were leaning Trump but could be won back. Minnesota is a swing state, but it was already the most likely to fall for Biden/Harris.
I assume they know what they're doing though.

I like how Trump openly admitted his policy decisions can be bought with his reversal on EV. Literally said “I have no choice because of Elon’s endorsement”
You’d think that kind of open quid pro quo would be illegal somehow, but oh well.

Minnesota is a swing state, but it was already the most likely to fall for Biden/Harris. I assume they know what they're doing though. Whitmer (Michigan) said herself she was never part of the VP process (and, much as I don't like saying it, an all-female ticket is something that America is even less "ready" for than Harris alone), Wisconsin's governor wasn't even heard as a name through all this (Whitmer was at least a potential pick for even President at one point, until she declined to challenge) and Shapiro (Pennsylvania) has an unfortunate amount of baggage that would allow for more credible MAGA attacks and could potentially turn off voters in other states even if he delivers Pennsylvania. Meanwhile, Walz still has plenty of pull in Pennsylvania and influence in the wider rust belt, while also being a relative unknown (which, much like with Harris, will make it difficult for MAGA slander to actually stick) with a lot of room to become popular in the US as a whole, good rhetoric chops and a history of passing progressive laws against stiff Republican resistance. Barring someone like Kelly bringing in the coolness factor (if not necessarily the political achievement factor, as much, plus Kelly's Senate seat would then be at risk), Walz is probably the best "safe" pick.

I didn't think Harris stood a chance but I'm rather hopeful that she might get the job.
A little concerned about the reaction if Trump loses, suspect it'll be public disorder on a large scale with added gun lunacy.
Appreciate my privilege not being a target for hatred but it wears me down watching it all unfold. The division across the UK keeps growing.
Israel/Iran, China/Taiwan and Russia vs Europe. It's hard not to speculate on a grim future.
For the first time in 20 years I'm thinking about hiding from it all in Aus or NZ.
