I don't know I think in the case of Mitch McConnell most people, well people who don't lack critical thinking, are aware of the damage he and his kind is doing to the democratic system as well as noticing that he's also doing a lot of work to suppress voting rights for many minorities. Him just saying the quiet part loud just highlights his awful nature.

as you say, I'm not sure that means anything. It might mean he has some racist and sexist assumptions about Asian women. Speaking anecdotally I noticed a lot of fetishisation of Asian women when I lived in Vietnam. Was definitely more focused on them being submissive and very girly. So fucking creepy. |

I hate Mitch to the core of my being. If I had to pick between him or Trump to be flayed I wouldn’t hesitate a second before picking the senior senator from Kentucky.
I think it’s a gaffe and the attention paid to it versus the daily real damage he does is a shining example of the dreadful nature of soundbite politics and news.
I very much doubt Mitch is driven by racism. He’s driven by utter disdain and contempt for anyone unable to bankroll campaigns to the tune of a few million bucks. That the systemic racism in the US means hardly any of the people who cares about are African American is a feature of the system, not Mitch.

I would be happy if a Trump cretin won a primary against Mitch. But he’s not up for relegation for another four years, so unless Trump doesn’t flame out and sink under legal woes, it ain’t gonna happen.
I’d be kind of shocked if Mitch hasn’t told the Jan6 committee where to look for buried burner phones

The right to drive a car isn’t made manifest in a two hundred year old piece of paper, so the comparison doesn’t exist. This will certainly go to SCOTUS who, considering their current hyper partisan, precedent shredding make up, will not only shoot it down but probably convict the bill’s authors of treason and punish them to death

It's such a weird statement. We were his accountants for almost 10 years but all the analysis and statements we issued are bogus.
Those statements and valuations enabled huge loans, financing and tax breaks.
The whole thing is corrupt AF and MAZARS, Deutsche Bank and JP Morgan are all complicit.

I've been keeping an eye on the confirmation hearings of Biden's pick for SCOTUS who happens to be a black woman and holy fucking shit, Republicans really are saying the quiet bit loud with their out and out racism. One Senator said that because abortion should be a states rights issue that also applied to other things, when asked if interracial marriage was one that should be a state decision he said yes, not once but TWICE because it would be hypocritical to pick and choose. He's tried to walk it back but it's good to know where we're at in 2022.

There’s some nuance there in that a lot of Rs think that “leave it to the states” should be the de facto for everything, regardless of the subject. Still a disgusting thing to say though.
Incidentally the next big divide in the GOP is shaping up to be about this kind of thing. You’ll see an even sharper divide between people who want Emperor Trump to decide everything, and Rs who think the President and Supreme Court should be superseded by states rights.

I see the nuance, but they way they gleefully include things like gay marriage, interracial marriage et al in state rights let's you know where they're coming from. I also understand a lot of it is red meat for the base to ensure their comfy positions. I often wonder what Clarence Thomas a black man actually thinks about all this but all evidence points to him not actually believing he's black.
