Naming by committee.
"PREY For The Gods"
"No, PRAY For The Gods"
"Hmmm"

This was crowdfunded (I backed it) and, to be fair, the original title was indeed Prey for the Gods, but they got hit by a copyright claim for the name and had to change it. The revised name is a bit daft though.
I played a couple of the test builds a couple of years back and it was... Okay? Not played any of the later builds or the full game since then though, so best to check reviews, etc.
I think I'll install it tonight and give it a look over.

Wow I never seen such a shameless ripoff. They've even mimicked the blur on the animation.

The revised name is a bit daft though. Yep, Bethesda hit them with a trademark dispute because of Arkane's Prey, which is a damn shame because it's a great name. I don't blame them for trying to preserve it.

Haha, jesus. "Well everything is a ripoff of something" I thought with an open mind as I clicked play. Didn't even get 5 seconds in until I was impressed at the sheer brass neck of it.

I bet they introduce a horse at some point, just to pretend to kill it off.

You've got to commend how they clearly stopped in self-awareness at some point and decided they were copying one game too much and so when designing the main character, spun the wheel of plagiarism again and landed on Horizon.

Didn't Castlevania on the PS3/360 have massive bosses you needed to climb like Shadow of the Colossus?

Someone buy it then, there's no reviews. Despite it being a shameless ripoff it looks pretty good.

The second LoS Vania definitely did. Opened up with a pretty epic boss battle.
Can't actually remember if there were in the first one.

I've just spent 80 quid on the Boux Avenue website so I'm holding off. Did manage to get in 2 wanks while browsing though.

Oh for fucks sake I'll buy it then. It would be overstepping the mark to suggest I'm owed 2 wanks but I'm happy to be compensated to the value of 57 seconds of any other satisfaction as a substitute.

I've had it since launch and played a few hours of it earlier this year. I'd say think of Shadow of the Colossus for bosses and big open areas to explore but it has some survival mechanics mainly cold and freezing like Lost Planet, upgrades and materials, mob fights and platform puzzles.
I'd watch some recent videos as it's decent if you like that kind of thing and i can't say how good the combat is as i am not great at it but that's more my problem than the combat system. It also had a big update in the last couple of days on Steam so it's still active.

It does look quite good to be fair. The fact it's a shameless ripoff doesn't really deter me if it plays well. I find the audacity quite impressive if anything.

Looks good, I'll readily tolerate rip-offs of games I'm fond of.
Developers can make as many rip-offs of Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Valkyria Chronicles, X-Com etc. As they like. Batman is a bit of a rip-off of The Shadow, Berserk borrows heavily from Conan. It just means there's there's more stuff out there to choose from and enjoy.

I shall await some impressions.
The survival aspect sounds potentially annoying and hopefully the climbing isn’t overly frustrating. Like the sound of the open world though, seems a bit more to it than SotC.

Did anyone catch the Ace Combat rip off on Gamepass recently? Really bad. Worth a download to see just how blatant it is.

Right, I'm two bosses in; here's what I think so far:
Very much "Breath of the Wild on a budget" in terms of the open world and traversal mechanics. Quite glitchy in places. Was very surprised to find many of the animations from the early snapshots I played at least a couple of years ago haven't been improved at all, which gives the game a less polished look. The melee combat has zero weight to it.
However, if you can forgive the above there's a lot to like. The survival and crafting mechanics are fairly basic, but you can turn down the severity of the penalties for lack of sleep and warmth at the start (I'm using the middle setting for the record, and have only ever *nearly* died from the cold once, during the second boss fight). The bosses are very much in the same vein as Shadow of the Colossus or that big statue in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and seem to have 2 phases: find a way to activate a rune on the ground which buys the time to climb aboard the boss, then scurry over the boss disabling it's weak points while it tries to shake you off. You know the drill.
Is it worth the money? Depends how much you like the sound of a cut price BotW/SotC hybrid, with all the flaws that lower budget includes. It plays well enough so far, I just wish the combat against the generic mobs felt better.

That's enough to make me wait for it to inevitably go on sale shortly after Christmas I think. I'm not desperate for another game right now anyway.
I'll let Decks off on the 2 wanks.
