I tried a bit more today but used Geforce Now with everything maxed at 1440p . Holy fucking shit, I'm not normally a graphics whore but the lighting especially the interplay of darkness and fire is something else.

I know the bit you mean Jambo and it was absolutely stunning.

In the end, I decided to cap the framerate to 30fps. Worth it for the better graphics and sharper picture, given the kind of game. Combat can feel a bit jerky, but it's not that important anyway.
I've just got through the caves and hot damn, I don't want to go there anymore.

The whole cave section and the bit that it ends with is just such an awesome thing to experience. Claustrophobic at times and manages to create one of the best horror sections in a game yet for me. Absolutely loved it.

Looks stunning on sx and to my eyes the frame rate is fine. I’m sure it would look even better on my pc but loving the 60inches and I haven’t used a console since getting a pc about 3-4 months ago so it needed some love.

Yeah that cave section is one of the best horror moments I can think of in gaming. The first God/Giant battle was also pretty cool. Combat is the same but feels a bit tougher than the first game.

Don't mind if I jump in and join the convo.
I just finished chapter 4 last night, so also just finished the cave section. That is one of the most bleak, oppressive gaming experiences I have ever had. It was great stuff!.
I have never been so glad to finally reach daylight again.

Sounds like a game to endure rather than enjoy?
Much like certain parts of TLOU2 by the sound of it.

Me on the other hand, while I enjoyed the cave sections, thought they could have had more of a bite.
So far, the puzzles have been so easy, and the path so linear that the atmosphere loses a bit of its edge. For comparison, a game like Amnesia: The Bunker was much more effective at being scary, since you had to choose when to leave your hiding place and where to go, and a bad choice could spell your doom.
That's not to say it wasn't super creepy. The amazing graphics and sound design sure helped. Probably the most realistic-looking cave I've ever seen in a game. UE5 really can be something else.

TLOU2 was great. It was also bleak as Sunak’s prospects!

Just finished. What a fantastic gaming experience that was. So many great moments and a really good story.
Definitely up for NT doing a horror game at some point.
Will play it again at some point with the companions narration on and to finish the collectibles.

Can't say I'm finding it especially engaging so far, but I'm still flabbergasted by the graphics on display. Honest, they are unreal (how fitting), and I'm not even playing on high settings. There is no stutter either.
Probably getting near the end, judging by the number of lore stones left. I'll leave it for tomorrow night.

I finished this tonight. I posted my thoughts in the recently completed games thread.
To sum it up, I thought it was an incredible experience and something that I will not forget in a hurry.

Briefly put this on but had to turn it off again to go digging around in AppData for the INI files to turn off the awful lens effects, especially chromatic aberration. I've been going through the worst eye strain I've had in my life this last week due to a combination of too much work and too little rest and having the visual flaws that I have to live with all the time through the lenses in front of my eyes doubled up is terrible. Forget paying to not have to display the UE logo at the start of the game, Epic should be making developers pay to not expose chromatic aberration, vignetting etc in their options menus.
(though I did notice that those effects in UE5's INI files have much more sensible names than they did in UE4, which is nice I suppose)

No all the post processing stuff is on by default on all platforms. It's part of the visual storytelling I believe.

I might have a bug on the last boss. Beat the shit out of him for 20 minutes this morning and the thing that is supposed to happen isn't happening. Well I do the thing, then nothing happens. Will try again tonight.

He only hit me about 3 times. I watched a video on YouTube and something is meant to happen after he does something. Yet in mine he doesn't do it.

Hmm that does seem strange. For me at least, the combat sequence seemed to progress once I pulled the mirror out and got in those hits.
You can select scenes/chapters from the main menu, perhaps choose restarting at the latest scene and trying again.
It does seem strange though as its the most polished game I think I have played, couldn't fault a single thing. Can't seem to find much on Google either, it just refers to a glitch in the 1st game. But maybe you have found something!

I used the light then charged him and got a bunch of hits in which then moved it to the next phase.
