I would love another WSP/Wheel setup for this. Pipe dream at the moment until we get all our home improvements done.

Is anyone else getting the slightest bit of hope that this might not actually be delayed again

I'd be very surprised if it gets delayed again now.

I can see the realistic crowds are going to be something that I never realised could make such a big difference. The sense of scale and grandiosity to the event is certainly going to make an impression

You actual racing fans. I've always wondered - what's that noise that some racing cars make when shifting down or otherwise coming of the accelerator for a bit? Like a crunching/crackling noise a bit like its backfiring. It's sometimes quite sustained

I don't know why this happens though and could be wrong so someone please correct me.

Wheelstand pro is great if you want to fold it away. I have a T300 and it's fantastic, not sure about Xbox support though. I upgraded from a Wheelstand Pro to a Playseat challenge this year. It actually folds up into not much more space than a Wheelstand (can easily go behind a sofa or in a tall cupboard) and it’s a big upgrade, it removes the central bar which gets in the way and opens up load cell pedals as an option (I got the T-LCMs this year). A T-300, playseat challenge & T-LCM come to close to £500 and is a great set up.

I like the idea of a wheel but it would be one of those things that would sit in the corner and bug me that it wasn't being used. By the time I'd put any decent amount of cumulative time into it it would be totally obsolete

By the time I'd put any decent amount of cumulative time into it it would be totally obsolete I feared the same but actually I’ve had the stand since the Xbox 360 days and my wheel & pedals have worked across two generations which is 15 years. I’ve had it for a decade and am comfortable that I’ll get it out for a couple of months a year or a few weeks here and there but over a decade I get the use out of it. As long as you have that space to store it!

Yeah I've had the T300 for ages now and it's still one of the best wheels you can buy.

I've almost always got one racing game or other on the go so I don't know what my malfunction is with just buying one. Maybe it can be a little GT7 launch treat.

My only real problem with them is I hate playing racing games with a pad now. To the point where if I can't be arsed to set the wheel up I just end up not playing them.

Yeah that's my other worry. Racing games tend to be my go-to if I've only got half an hour spare or whatever. Fuck carting all that kit out for 5 laps of something because I've turned into a pad snob.

The PlaySeat Challenge looks the ticket, but I'm wary of folding frame chairs of that type, being 6'5" and 21+ stone. Reckon the PlaySeat Evolution might be what I need. Awesome.

Recommendations for a wheel & pedals that work on both PS5/XSX? Fanatec is your best bet for dual PS and Xbox Support, but they're pricey. Unless the process has changed this gen (wheels, arcade sticks etc are backwards compatible on both consoles anyway), what you do is you buy a PS base (ie the actual bit with the motor that you clamp onto something) and an Xbox wheel (the actual bit you hold with your hand), and that lets it work with both console ecosystems.

I dunno, GT somehow always manages to make high octane, pedal to the metal racing look and feel so sterile. Been playing GT Sport a bit and it's mostly just a tyre squeak simulator. I'm sure I'll still get it though.

The last one I played was on the PS3 and I did not enjoy my time with it at all not sure why, think I'd had my fill of circuit racers at that point.
Plenty of time has passed now though and I think it's worth giving it another crack after spending so much time with GT1, 2 and 3.

Some Mini’s actually artificially put fuel into the exhaust in order to get that sound.

Why don’t normal cars have this problem? Is it just that they’re going through fuel so fast that not all the fuel is spent properly by the engine?

Why don’t normal cars have this problem? Is it just that they’re going through fuel so fast that not all the fuel is spent properly by the engine? I ended up wondering about this too so had to Google. It's to do with the ignition (as in when the fuel/air mix ignites) mapping causing the ignition to occur when the exhaust valve is slightly open so some fuel can escape and ignite in the hot exhaust. I guess normal cars don't have this occur as their engine mapping will be set to do ignition at the "correct" time. This article explains it more: drivetribe.com/p/exhaust-pops-bangs-explained-by-AC7bCQ84SQy9_WKJLKuUgg?iid=B7Z6FleCQZSE-033HmBXIA

Racing cars don’t have mufflers, they basically have an open pipe. So when they let off the gas some air can go back up the pipe and the fuel in there ignites.

Well after spending the last few days checking out reviews I went and ordered a T300 Ferrari Integral Alcantara Edition and a Playseat challenge. Only downside I see to the Playseat is no stock mount for a shifter, but to be perfectly honest I may never need one as I've always used paddles on past wheels.

You'll absolutely love it. I upgraded my rim to Ferrari one last year and it's much better than the standard one, mainly due to the extra size. And also the Alcantara feels like sex.
Make sure to pick up Dirt Rally 2 if you don't already have it. Let me know if you do as you need to mess on with the settings to get the most out of it.

I was in the little group you had going for a while. Definitely appreciate whatever optimal settings are for it if you can share those

It's so good with a wheel. I've been looking for an excuse to install it again and get the wheel out so I'll have a look at some point over the next few days. When you getting it?
