That actually makes total sense. It's far too crowded over the next few months. As much as I fancied AitD, there was no way I would have bought it as there are too many other games out around that time. January is a great idea. Gives the game a fighting chance, as I do actually think / hope it will be decent.

Is the Alien Isolation DLC worth having or easily skippable? The game on its own is on sale for £8

The delay for AITD makes even more sense when you realise the original release date is 2 days before Alan Wake 2

Totally, if the next big tech thing that was Immortals of Aveum could get crushed to irrelevance so quickly, a game like this wouldn't even register releasing in October.

Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2, Super Mario Wonder. Oh right. I'd rather they just released it in October From a business case they would get destroyed. It would be idiotic to release a title like that when other bigger games will be vying for people's wallets. Releasing it in a quieter period when people would be willing to take a punt on it is always the best action.

Have Remedy games reached the sales to throw Alan Wake up there with Mario and Spidey? Sonic Superstars seems a bigger contender, although out of all the games mentioned, Alan Wake 2 is probably the only one that’s a direct competitor to Alone on the Dark.

They pushed it back to the end of the month to avoid a battering. Still a rough month for them to release in though.

I don't think so, no but I suppose Remedy already has pre built install base and the coverage they've got from Summer Games Fest and Gamescom has helped a lot. Alone in the Dark while the older IP just doesn't have the same reach anymore and hasn't for a long time.

Yeah, been awhile since the last time we saw AitD, and that was also an “it’s been a long while” situation. That’s been the franchise’s biggest hurdle in having its name up there with say, Resident Evil. They let it rest too long. Been ages since a new Silent Hill also, but at least when it was around, Konami was hitting consistently, so its IP does have the cache AitD lacks.

I see the updated console versions of Risk of Rain 2 are *still* in the works at Gearbox, with the last progress update being issued in mid-July.
Before the year is out, maybe? One can dream!

I thought the original devs were doing it instead of Gearbox

I think they were, originally, but they sold the IP to Gearbox late last year - as I understand it, Gearbox is now doing the console rebuild in-house.

I came in here to post the Wild Hearts news, but I see baihu1983 beat me to the punch Ah, what the hell: www.pushsquare.com/news/2023/09/rumour-wild-hearts-support-is-being-slashed-just-seven-months-after-releasePeople are framing this as another victim of the recent live service games cull, but - unlike, say, Anthem or Babylon's Fall - Wild Hearts struck me as being primarily a single-player game with an optional multiplayer component, so I'm not sure how well that perspective stacks up. Is it a case of EA abandoning a live service game, or just moving on from a single-player title that came out seven months ago? Regardless, it's kind of a bummer... but not all that surprising, as Wild Hearts appeared to sink without a trace when it launched back in February. I guess Omega Force may still make a sequel at some point, if a) they still own the IP, and b) Koei Tecmo is willing to bankroll its development; after all, Monster Hunter has been going for almost 20 years, so you'd have to be pretty naive to expect an MH clone to sell like gangbusters right out of the gate.

I picked it up the other week. Argos have it down to £15 for clearance.
Played a little before Starfield and it seems alright.

Witchfire is out in early access over on Epic. Perhaps somebody is interested in trying it. I'll probably wait until it makes its way to Steam.
Edit: I hadn't heard about Clockwork Revolution, a first person RPG by Inxile, but stumbled across it because Chad Moore of Troika fame seems to be involved. (Oh, sorry, forgot to say that it is in development. Not to be expected earlier than 2024 apparently).

What is this? I want this. Out today on consoles apparently although looks like it launched last year originally (hence the old launch trailer). It looks fucking brilliant though.
