I may need to try it again at some point if it's going cheap and - as it's becoming painfully clear - I do tend to like most things, so it's always odd if I don't like something. I just remember a fit of apoplectic rage following yet another bungled interrogation because I couldn't figure out what the fuck was going on. I just made Cole go outside and drive his car into a building.

The interrogation system was messed up with them deciding to change one of the dialogue options description last minute.

Well, if you do get to it, and its still rage inducing, I apologise for selling it up to you.
They definitely borked the interrogations, which is a shame, because the meat of trying to puzzle out the cases is really neat, and breaks the game up nicely into these episode sliced chunks. They're not all winners, but a lot of them are interesting, and also some are apparently based on real cases of the time.
It is also kind of funny watching Cole play good cop/bad cop simultaneously while seeming to have no control of his emotions. It does cause frustration while playing; I had similar issues in my first playthrough, getting annoyed because the tone of what I was aiming to say was, like, a football stadium size away from what Cole actually said, but I think if you just let it go and see how it all plays out (Cole is the hero of the piece, but he is absolutely not a hero), the main narrative and the Noire aspects of it really works (minus a few misteps here and there).
I'd love to see a game like this taken the next step further.

I tried man. Honestly. I had it on my vita. Poured tens of hours into it but it drained the life from me. To be fair, I've never seen you talk about JRPGs so I can see you not enjoying it if it's not your genre, but only then. dfunked has no such excuse

Yeah they don't do it for me. Wanted to try as I'd heard so much positivity around it but... Yeah. Not for me.

I think for me I'm just in a bit of a gaming slump. I'm not really getting into anything that I play at the moment, and have drifted away from a ridiculous amount of games this year.
Might have a break for a few weeks and give P3P another go.

What did you think of Junpei? He's by far my favourite of the 'best friend' Persona characters as there's quite a bit of tension there (jealousy) and he's just a much more believable and interesting chracter to someone like Yosuke, who I found way too full on with his 'partner' stuff There's more about him that I really like but can't go into it because of spoilers. Love all the characters though
Surprised you don't like Mitsuru if you liked Makoto (think you said you romanced her)

Funnily enough I have a strong dislike for his character model (looks like an ex friend who had similarly shit facial hair). I took him off my party as soon as there were 3 other people to pick from. The S-link stuff hinted at him having a bit of depth (think I got to 6 or 7), so kind of curious how that pans out I suppose.
Mitsuru seems ace, but of course I'm locked out of her S-link due to ridiculous academic requirements.

Did laugh at the each enemy is a puzzle line just before it's massive weak points appeared.

It’s like they just pulled elements of other video games and popped them into a blender. Enemies from The Witcher III. Characters from Tomb Raider and Mass Effect Andromeda. Areas and combat from Returnal.

I find the visuals of this really bizarre. Can't quite work out what they were going for - it's not really modern or retro looking

Its like a 20 year old colour palette on 5 year old models, don’t mind it though.

I wasn’t sold at first but I think I am now. Is it next month it’s out? For console as well? Can’t seem to find out for sure.

It does look a bit odd, I agree. Didn't they pause development altogether at one point - and change engines, into the bargain - because they didn't like the direction in which it was going?
wunty As far as I can tell, "March 2023" is all the information that's available right now. (It's not the first time they've announced a release window, and people are sceptical, for obvious reasons.)
As for platforms, it's meant to be coming to PC, Xbox, and PlayStation; no word on staggered vs. simultaneous releases, though, or physical editions for console owners.

They basically had to scrap everything they'd done because there was a lot of backlash at how they'd strayed too far from the aesthetic.

Thanks, Wunty - that's basically what I recall.
I'm guessing that explains why it's still pretty pixel-y while being modern-ish at the same time.

I think the general consensus was that this is what people wanted. As I say I wasn’t keen at first but I’m really on board now. It looks great.

If people were this jumpy about the graphics then it must be a nightmare to balance faithful gameplay with modern quality of life features without ruining everyone’s half-forgotten childhood experiences of playing it

Cities skylines getting a free Series S/X/PS5 update.
Keep meaning to try and get back into that. Was doing really well then my citizens just started getting sick left and right then dying.

I remember at the time all the hoohah with the interrogation scenes in LA Noire, but I never found it that unintuitive or the results unexpected. To be honest I've been more perplexed by what I chose and what the actual outcome was in Witcher 3.

Wild Hearts actually looks pretty good:
I might pick it up if Capcom don't get around to releasing Monster Hunter Rise in physical form on PS5.
