Due to popular demand, and to head off the sort of nonsense we had with the Game of Thrones, here is a thread for Wheel of Time book nerds to discuss to their hearts content. No spoiler tags needed, just have at it.
Perrin has (had) a wife now! I can't believe they made Nynaeve the Dragon Reborn! And so on
Just kidding it's Rand. May the redhead's reign be long and fruitful. And your face would be red too, if you clicked on this thread and weren't expecting spoilers!

I never read the last one. Out of interest: Did anybody else run into trouble with Sanderson's writing style? For some reason I really enjoyed The Gathering Storm, but eventually didn't feel anymore like the characters were still the ones I had been reading about for so many years.

Nah, I liked what he did with it. But I'm a Sanderson fan in general.
Also, I am posting here hoping that other book wankers will follow. Because I want to discuss them, and the TV show! Together!

One little change I've liked is them altering the ages of the characters a bit. The Nynaeve/Lan thing feels way less creepy when he's not like 25+ years her senior.

I really struggle with Sanderson's own books, but it's not his writing, I don't think. The first two (WoT ones) were a bit lacking, missing some of the feel for the characters, but I was glad to have them. I liked the last one, though.
Re: Perrin, is he just going to be moody until he meets Faile, which will sort him out? He doesn't seem to have his axe with him and no yellow eyes yet.
Rand is bland, but he's bland in the books until he defeats Aginor at the Eye of the World and then he starts to grow. For me, it's not until the Stone of Tear and the Aiel wastes he starts to get interesting. And Matt starts terribly but grows once he's been hanged by the Eelfinn. His received memories are so much better than Rand's is he there/isn't he there with Lews Therin.
Logain was good. His fall and redemption and rise are excellent so I'm looking forward to that.
Nynaeve is instantly more likeable than the books and the woman playing Egwene is good.

Yeah, book Nynaeve is really fucking irritating. Not really a fan of Mat either.
But in the show they're right up there with the best characters! Giving Mat a family was a good idea, much moreso than giving Perrin a wife.

It's always mentioned how the women aren't well written, but Nynaeve takes the trophy. Genuinely awful.
Zoe Robbins is already doing a good job of improving that.
