I'm sure it's US-only, but NBC used to put all their shows on Hulu, much like CBS, ABC and the CW. When Disney bought the majority share and also started Disney Plus, NBC said "we want one of those too" and started up Peacock. It's pretty new. But tldr, it's NBC's hulu/CBS Now/Disney+.
As for the show itself, I don't know. It could be good. The original series got into some pretty deep topics, but it will be strange without the humor.

If you write down the plot summary on a piece of paper, i could see how you’d could get a fairly serious take out of it, especially given the last few years.
They would also be brave to make another comedy. You don’t catch that lightning in a bottle again.
But, yeah, doesn’t look great but I totally understand why they are playing it straight.

The straight version of it isn’t a bad idea but it feels like they should have separated it more from the comedy version. It looks a bit teen drama with guns but could be ok, the marketing is a mess though.

The premise makes sense as a straight drama but the trailer looks too much like they’ve just done the exact same thing but serious. Agree, needs more separation.

iirc, someone did a fan-made trailer of Fresh Prince where they made it realistic, and everyone on youtube loved it and will smith got involved. They might even have got the guy who made the fan-trailer on board for the reboot.

There were some gritty moments in some episodes of Only Fools And Horses. Not many, but a few tonal shifts that you wouldn't expect from the show that gave us Del Falling Through The Bar. One that comes to mind is when Del Boy got the shit kicked out of him. |
