I don't think Oasis' third album was anywhere near as bad as the critics said it was. I think it got decent reviews at launch, I bought it the day it came out and everyone seemed to think it was good Further down the line it started getting a bad press. Thereās not one great tune on it to be honest, some decent ones but no stand out tracks Itās main problem is that it was full of 7-8 minute songs that had no business being that long. How many times do you need to tell us that āitās getting better, manā?

Stand By Me is the only one that jumps out really. And even that drags on a bit.

I like the opening minute, before the music starts. Letās just turn everything up to max, throw in some beeps, helicopters, whatever, if it makes a noise it can join in. All goes a bit downhill once it becomes songs.

I accidentally went to a late stage Oasis gig and it was pretty funny to see people bouncing around, throwing beer about to anything from the first two albums and then fuck of to the bar when they played pretty much anything else.
I say ālate stageā this was them touring Donāt Believe The Truth and they still flogged like five more years out of the dead horse.

TITS did a good trainwreckords on it and he goes in quite hard on that. Itās also interesting to get an American perspective on it. youtu.be/yg0FumbR4AU?si=eRwNnh9pEQv8ZMC4

Shed Sevenās first album included a bit in the blurb on the sleeve about how they were better than Oasis, and would last longer too.
Turns out they were right.

Dixons The Link wanted the Seahorses āYou Can Talk To Meā for their adverts, they offered a load of money and Chris Helme went out on the piss bragging to Rick off Shed 7 about it. A week later their manager phoned up and said the dealās off, Shed 7 are doing it for half the price, so we had to listen to Rickās nasal refrain of āSPEAK EASY, AT THE LINK ITS EASYā all through the 90s

The cynical bit is how blatantly they're trying to recreate absolutely everything from the old show, including the "baddie" gladiator who's meant to be hated by the crowd (Viper is doing his best, but he's no Wolf). The new gladiators aren't quite as pumped up on steroids and, apart from Viper's faux-gruffnes, it was all a bit chummy for my liking.

And while we're being unpopular about TV- I watched the first episode of Traitors season 2 specifically because a colleague told me "it's great because they're not vacuous and fame-hungry, they're just like regular people". But they seemed pretty bloody vacuous and fame-hungry to me.

My daughter enjoyed gladiators about as much as I did at her age, I would expect I enjoyed it about as much as my parents did at the time too. Job well done imo

Don't see why anyone hated Gladiators? It was literally the same as it was back in the day, minus the original cast. I don't think Ulrika or The Fash were that good in hindsight anyway.

Also add to the Oasis debate. The new Liam Gallagher/John Squire is great, but I can't stand Liam's voice.. utterly grating.

Iām mean fair credits to them, they really covered every element of the dickhead spectrum.

I've not watched Nu Gladiators (can't say it was something I had much interest in the first time around), but didn't they already do a revival?
Also, Traitors is great (holding off on series 2 for when I can watch it all), but don't think I've heard anyone say that the participants are normal. Seeing dicks be dicks to each other is half the appeal!
It probably benefits from contestants being naĆÆve of the format, but that is the same of all "reality" shows in their early days.
