That T4 shit he started out with, he was always a wrong un That was also a time when Northern people were essentially fetishised by the tv shows in London. Sara Cox is also guilty, she also had a show on radio 1 that was the height of no effort.

I have no thoughts on Daly. Kay draws my ire for his radio show shenanigans on radio 1 back in the day on a Sunday/Saturday that had absolutely no thought put into it and always made me believe I could also just turn up, play some songs and ask the audience to phone in and tell us what their favourite crisp flavour was. That sounds good to be honest but I am a massive crisp fan

Now I'm just thinking about all the radio djs who I couldn't stand when I listened to a shit load of radio when I was in 6th Form College. My no.1 is Jo Whiley for that one. Super infuriating.

I liked a couple of Kenickie songs back in the day. Not at all sure they'd hold up for me now, mind - I've since discovered riot grrrl, and I suspect Laverne and co. would stack up very poorly against the best of that genre.
Agreed re Jo Whiley, whom I always found kind of annoying.

Her weird and brazen angling to be the new Jon Peel for a couple of years even struck 16 year old me. Twas odd.

Kay is the proto-Brand.

For crap DJs Richard Bacon was always the unintentional Partridge king for me. No one more irritating. Did a phone in called “Do You Like Me?” once and only read out messages from people who did.

Now I'm thinking of the people who were inspired by Brand. Film reviewer Alex Zane springs to mind who directly went for the "I want to look like Russell Brand" phase.

There was a period where you’d go into Camden and so many men would be cosplaying as him. You couldn’t have signposted wanting to get laid any harder.

He used to do my head in as well.
He still does my head in, but he used to, too.

I really like Lauren Laverne; she’s transformed the 6 music breakfast show with good music since she took over from Shaun (Leigh near Wigan born & bread) Keaveny.
I don’t have much of an opinion of Ravenscroft or Gilles Petersen, but not keen on Craig Charles slot either. He’s a bit shouty excitable

I like Giles Peterson against my better judgement as I used to listen to him after a night out and was usually coming down.

Yeah, Ravenscroft also still does my head in, but I negated that but just not listening to the radio when he's on.
Lauren Laverne is okay.
I like Giles Petersons radio manner but find the music he plays very hit and miss, it's usually okay but occasionally just goes a bit too abstract and weird (which is rich coming from me, who likes some abstract and weird music in different genres).

I barely listen to 6 music these days. I think they've really gone off the boil in terms of what they play.
As much as everyone hated the humour of Shaun Keaveny in the morning, I actually found it refreshing. He played some great songs.

Lauren is fine- House music is pretty much my favourite feature on the radio ffs. Who doesn't like washing machines sounding like songs!

look I'm sorry about this but it has to be done:
national treasure David Attenborough
...and his insatiable blood lust
look at the cute seal cub, aww look at its cute little flippers. And here's a killer whale, OH NO, DANGER BABY SEAL, DANGER. David's working himself up in frenzy of escalating threat, until the cute seal's turned into meat paste and blood in the water.
The secret to David's longevity is toddler's tears.
