She's not doing anything to divest me of my longstanding belief that any woman who owns a horse will inevitably be absolutely batshit fucking mental.

Serves me right for listening to the Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe Parenting Hell podcast but they had Luisa Zissman on as a guest this week, and fucking hell… What a vile woman. Really gives Katie Hopkins a good run for her money in the hateful ex-Apprentice contestants stakes. I’ve not listened to the show in forever but the episode that always struck me as a real fffuckin’ ‘ell moment was an early one with Russell Kane and his incomprehensible attitude to sleep training an eight week old.

I hadn’t heard the episode but it still come up from time to time. Didn’t he do the Cry It Out thing at 8 weeks, rather than at 6 months most people do?

And forcing the baby to stay awake during the day so it would be so knackered it’d sleep longer in the night. Something to do with how he’d read they need eight hours sleep but it doesn’t matter when. Generally a lot of stuff about how the baby needed to fit into his life not adapting his own schedule for it.
It wasn’t my vibe anyway.

basically called people that choose careers in the arts workshy She said this to two comedians?! Yeah. It was the one part of the podcast where Rob Beckett actually went “now hold on a minute…”

Generally I know better to critique other people’s parenting and there is indeed an element of the ends justifying the means with babies, but that’s a bit extreme for me.

I think you could hear Rob & Josh getting uncomfortable too. Although that might just be because Kane was quite an overbearing forceful “I’m right, you’re wrong and I won’t hear otherwise” manner

So he was being Russell Kane then. He's definitely one of the comedians still going where I genuinely wonder what people like about him, and I don't think that about many comedians tbh.

Tbf I feel that about Josh Widdecombe. He truly is the trope of the very middle class white guy being successful because he just exists.

Sometimes you can do quite well by being middle of the road and not really stirring up strong emotions either way.

Even Russell Howard seems quite good compared to Russell Kane.

To be fair I didn't mind the Evil Genius podcast - it had a good concept.
He shouldn't have acted like such a dickhead during the 2022 World Cup Final. Made some good saves though.

Tbf I feel that about Josh Widdecombe. He truly is the trope of the very middle class white guy being successful because he just exists. I spent ages trying to work out what his disability was when The Last Leg started and then finally realised it was just that he isn't very funny

I think Widdecombe is better when he’s on stuff that when he’s doing his own stand-up too. His material is very bland and there’s no flair in the delivery.
Beckett on the other hand I actually grew to quite like when I was listening to Parenting Hell and saw him on tour a bit ago. He was annoying when he first broke through but seems to have aged into just being a fairly regular guy compared to a lot of his generation of tv stand-ups.

Yeah agree with all of that. I saw Beckett really early on as I was trying to do stand up at the same time (quit very soon into it) and thought he was annoying as fuck and only did bad jokes about his teeth.
Couldn't figure out how he'd got where he did at all but then as years went by his quickness and jokes really improved. So he got a quick break early on but actually gained the experience and fair play he can make me laugh now.

Russell Howard when he had his regular show was very funny IMO. Russell Kane sounds like he has been, basically.
