Edit - I've edited the title after suggestions from people. Typically, I didn't want to be too 'in your face' with it...but then I was questioning myself as to whether it was the right thing to do in the first place... Evening, folks. Pains and embarrasses me to have to do this but I’m facing a massive struggle at the moment, in terms of my mental health and financially. After a big mental collapse a few weeks back, I’ve reached rock bottom and it’s going to be a long, slow climb back up. I’ve explained more in the campaign link. I know it’s a hard time for many, which is why I find it so difficult to ask for help for myself, but, if anyone has a shekel or two they can spare to help me as I try to find my feet again and climb back up out of the shit, it will be greatly appreciated. Even just kind words will help. I know there may be some who don’t agree with me doing this, which is fine, but please remember I’m in a mentally vulnerable position, so please just walk on by, I can’t deal with negative comments at the moment, cheers. Thanks for reading, folks. A Helping Hand

This thread title sounds like some indie game, I almost didn't click but glad I did. Bookmarked to return on payday, sounds like a rough time, no shame at all in asking for help.

Maybe change the title, as I didn't know what this was about and nearly ignored it.
I'm broke at the moment, but get paid next week, so will also bookmark this.

thanks for the comments, m'dears, i really wasn't sure how this would run...as is aid, it doesn't come easily to me in the first place but, right now, i'm short on options i wouldn't want anyone who's short/broke themselves feeling they have to chip in either, i don't expect anything from anyone will have a thunk about the thread title, thanks for the headsup on it

i wouldn't want anyone who's short/broke themselves feeling they have to chip in either, i don't expect anything from anyone If this is partly because I mentioned payday (which I regret in hindsight), seriously don't worry about it. Suffice to say it's more because I'm disorganised than anything else. Being in a bind this time of year can be especially hard, you've done right by not suffering in silence.

Donated.
I remember it wasn't too long ago I was in genuine financial hardship as well. It's not easy and it feels shit to have to ask for help. We have a society that prides itself too much on the 'self-made' person and and looks down on people who need help.
Hope everything goes well and hope that I have helped as well. Good luck.

The irony being there are few if no self made people. Everyone gets help. Some good folk in the forum.

Everyone I've ever met who claims to be self made, mostly a lot of business owners I've worked for, were all talking shit. One guy gave me the whole rags to riches spiel and it turned out his dad was an MP years ago.
I'm sure there are some out there, but by and large, most people need a decent leg up at some point.

Not far from me, I used to play golf at the course there Eccleston Park occasionally until it was closed down. Sometimes, it's easy to become trapped.
My own personal tale of woe. A few years ago, I left a job. It wasn't a great job. I went to work in a factory. Ended up with sciatica and decided I didn't want to work there anymore. Left of my own volition. I had a plan, I applied to Uni for computer science, got accepted, however, because I had technically taken two years funding previously for uni, I couldn't get the funding. Which left me in limbo and feeling massively depressed. I'm in my mid thirties here and feeling pretty worthless. I took a job off the books in the local, £6 an hour, no guaranteed hours and cannot claim benefits because I 'gave up' my previous job and so was essentially out of the system.
At this point, I literally could not see a way out. I'm relying on the kindness of my parents, otherwise, I probably wouldn't have survived this period. I feel like I am out of society as well, I can't afford much, can't spend on nights out, can't afford a holiday, can't spend too much on myself. At this point, it felt like I was in a massive pit of shite and I didn't have a shovel.
Anyway, out of desperation and maybe a bit of hope, I applied for a local apprenticeship scheme in engineering and it somehow all worked out. I now have a decent job in which I spend most of my day at a computer and don't have to lift shit.
There is no point to this story, what works for one does not work for another. I think I just needed to share it because I've internalised a lot of that for years now.
Hope it works out for everyone else too.

Nice to hear it’s worked out for you stuz359 sounds like your parents are good people Best thing to do if you’re struggling is share your feelings with someone, friends, family, strangers on a gaming forum 😀 help can come from anywhere but unless people ask for it then it’s not a given I think asking for helping is one of the bravest things people can do
