Might be mine too. Just a great mix of style, action, drama, comedy and music.

Rick and Morty is decent, but nothing mind-blowing. Don't understand the adulation at all.

Imo the first two seasons of Rick and Morty (and most of the third) are immensely funny. It's dropped off since then, but I still pretty consistently enjoy it.
Though to be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand it.

I don't really do well with the style of animation. Does my head in. Have watched a couple and been quite nonplussed. One of my mates raves about it but yet to see it.

I saw one adult swim show in the early 00s and I just assume that means I’ve seen them all

Still haven't been able to finish the first episode of that show. I've tried on three separate occasions but each and every time I ended up turning it off halfway through. Completely bounce off it. I did the same. It really isn’t a good first impression. But I went back to it years later when I was desperately looking for something short and inconsequential to watch and the first few series are actually pretty good. Then it does get a bit wearing and I dropped it again.

Better animated shows: The Simpsons (to say S10) Adventure Time Bob's Burgers Futurama On a par Family Guy/American Dad (S4 each I think) Regular Show Beavis and Butthead when I was 14 Fraggle Rock if puppets count as animation Transformers Oh and Thundercats was pretty shit. "MUUUUSSST.... CLIMMMMMBB WALLLLL!!" The Beavis & Butthead revival series was genuinely the funniest show I watched last year

I'm annoyed I'm doing this, but name them. Because I don't believe you actually like a dozen animated shows. Simpsons King of the Hill Futurama South Park Beavis and Butt Head Daria Adventure Time Regular Show Rugrats Hey Arnold Family Guy (inexplicably) Batman Animated Series 90s Spiderman Whacky Races Scooby Doo And I forgot Johnny Bravo

I don’t remember any overtly retro fashion movement when I was in school during the 90s, we must’ve been the last original generation Really? You don’t remember the Britpop obsession with the mods and everyone dressing like Phil Daniels and Paul Weller? Or punk coming back? Or flares coming back? The 90s had its own trends as well but there was a huge amount of retro fashion in the mix.

I can't even remember what I wore (casually) in the 90s. Probably shorts.

There's some great episodes of American Dad, too (eg, Joint Custody). I watched the first couple of seasons of Rick and Morty in a hotel room abroad, but I've never been tempted to go on and watch the rest.

I've just realised that means they'll need to recast loads of characters. I wonder what it'll sound like without him.

Jeans, band t-shirt, hoodie, converse, leather jacket.
I don't even care.

My jeans have gotten progressively less baggy over the decades. You could fit a small family up the legs of some of the monstrosities I wore in the 90s.
Finally caved in and got a fairly tight fitting pair.
I'll probably move on to those ridiculously skinny fit ones in my 50s.

The 90s had its own trends as well but there was a huge amount of retro fashion in the mix. Britpop and indie was my sort of scene back then, but no one really copied the look in my school. Closest thing to a fashion trend I can remember was grunge plaid shirts which was how I mostly dressed. All the cool kids in my part of inner city London were wearing moschino and Versace (from the market)

Were bomber jackets retro? They were very popular in the 90s

I believe that they initially became popular with bomber crews in WW2, so yes, retro.

Seems obvious when you put it like that Apologies if that comes across as really condescending, wasn't meant to be. They were popular in the 50s (greasers) and the 70s (punks) too.

I love Rick and Morty. (Roiland can do one, though.)
Also Family Guy, American Dad, Bob's Burgers, Beavis and Butt-Head, various Scooby-Doo incarnations, and some King of the Hill.

I do really enjoy Rick and Morty when it's good. They can fit a lot of story into fairly short run times.
By using the viewers knowledge of genre conventions they fit the same story beats into twenty minutes that some films stretch over 2.5 hours. As somebody who thinks most films are too long this appeals a lot. I also like it when they dive into themes of existential despair.
It's not the best cartoon ever by any means, but I do think it's up there amongst my favourite contemporary adult cartoons.

I’ve not said it for awhile so - if King of the Hill had been live action and the exact same quality the cartoon is, it would be firmly in the top end of the conversation for all time best sitcom
