And ultimately that's what we need to hope outcomes like this can do: help to demonstrate quite clearly and publicly to these individuals that, despite their current wealth/status/levels of power, they will get caught eventually. Whether that's ultimately going to serve as enough of a deterrent, I don't know.

I was reading a Clive Barker novel set in Hollywood, written in like 1998, and there's this character who is a complete creep, and in retrospect, it's obvious he's based on Weinstein, particularly the physical description, and it's like, huh I guess people at least kinda-new all the way back then, even random British horror writers (of course Barker had been around Hollywood a bit by then). |

I'm working my way through Catch And Kill on Sky which is an HBO doc about Weinstein. It was an open secret from the early 90's. The infrastructure of Miramax was built around keeping victims quiet by the sound of it. Weinstein would groom assistants, actresses, whoever to go up to his suite and have his way with, then denigrate and/or NDA them so they have no hope of working in the industry.
It's a fascinating documentary, which shows how fragile it was exposing him, even though everyone knew.
