Bit surprising as you think he would be a bit more clued in about this stuff but oh well, I never liked him as a footballer and even less as a presenter. "Linked as Gary Linekar's successor" is such a wild statement that this feels thankfully like a missed bullet.

Remember that time Tristan Tate was on that "Shipwrecked" show on Channel 4, and his personality grated on people so much that someone quit the show early and as he was leaving on the boat, the guy said "Tristan, I pissed in your food tin and I'm not sorry", and Tristan said he wasn't bothered because the tins were a non-porous metal and it would be fine once he rinsed it off but you could tell he was furious because his eye was twitching while he said it, that was good times...

There have been stories for quite a while about Jenas wanting the MOTD job and being in line to follow Lineaker, although I suppose those stories could have been planted. Since last year I’ve thought that the Beeb might be pushing him sideways to The One Show and other stuff, like they’d already made their mind up that he wasn’t having MOTD ever. |

That Alex Scott got Football Focus and Jenas’s cool youth version of MOTD got cancelled fairly quickly makes me think she was probably ahead of him in the pecking order if Gary’s replacement is going to be one of the existing hosts.
