It's more annoying because of that power dynamic where people obviously couldn't tell him to fuck off. and yet, i struggle to believe that over the many years popbitch et al have been reporting on this that nobody of roughly equal power - a co-presenter maybe, or a senior producer, thought to say "jeez greg, tone it down a bit eh?"
i'd like to think these co-presenters and senior producers might have some apologies to make for doing precisely fuck all to protect junior staff

From all the comments the two of them have made in the last, Torode might not be that much better. You don’t work that closely for 20 years with someone you hate without doing something about it unless you an are ok with it.
But then the other hosts like Waring must also put up with it, unless he doesn’t do it around him.

Did anyone on earth actually like watching him? I don’t remember anyone saying he was good at his job, ever, but he’s been on TV for 25 years while being a complete cunt somehow, and no talent Think he had his place. Never minded him on MasterChef. As you say though not exactly indispensable. |

I don’t think anyone would watch something just because he was on it but he did a decent enough job hosting Masterchef. And he did somehow convince the BBC to turn playing Rome Total War as a team into a full series of television.

Always found him to be an insincere, loud mouthed useless arse.
He's made a career of being in awe of Marcus and Monica, while offering zero other than repeating or agreeing with the professional chefs around him and asking the obvious.
I think it's far to generous to look at his behaviour as a 60 year old innocently going to far "for a laugh". Asking sexual questions like "does you boyfiend like a finger up the bum" to young runners and removing clothes in an environment where he's in an dominant position is just wrong.
Any HR department outside of TV would literally fire you into the sun for this kind of behaviour and rightly so.
That he seemingly only behaved this way within a TV or professional environment, I think underlines that he was knowingly using the power dynamic to get away with saying and doing whatever he liked.

Controversial but I don’t mind that he’s pushing back a bit because I don’t like this modern life of cancel culture. Having said that I believe he is in the wrong in the broadest sense but sexual innuendo has always been a small part of cookery shows/competitions and a lot of celebrity chefs have embraced and run with it to the benefit of their careers. Female and male. You can’t tell me Nigella doesn’t know what she’s doing! But he has to hold his hands up and admit he has probably overstepped the line on some occasions and should apologise for any offences caused.
But yes Greg is a case of not growing older gracefully unfortunately and taking a stand like this is certainly dangerous but part of me also thinks good on him why not?

I can only imagine some of the shit female chefs/staff have had to hear or put up with over the years.
In 2024 you can't go around saying things you did 5/10 years ago. It's just the way things are now.
All he had to do was come out and apologise.
"Sorry my brand of humour has always been a little on the edge..I can only apologise if I have caused offence, I accept there's some learning to be be had and I will strive to conduct myself in a more professional manner in future"
Kills it all stone dead, his video is just going to make it worse.
