Poltergeist (Blu-ray) - 4/5
First time watch, which is weird. Obviously a Spielberg movie, which is both a blessing and a curse. I feel that if he'd let Tobe Hooper do his thing we would have got a much more interesting and probably scarier movie. What we get is Spielberg doing a haunted house movie, which rules. I mean you could be onto something, but then again lets judge Tobe's career after the excellent Texas Chainsaw... perhaps having Speilberg guide him in the right direction, made it into the 'classic' it is today. I still find it fairly creepy even for something Spielberg was involved with. |

I can't think of one. It'd be an interesting thing to try, but I imagine there'd be all kinds of legal issues if they weren't owned by the same people.
Pretty sure there are a few where crossover characters either appear or are mentioned.

Terrifier 3 A good old fashioned slasher, except the killing is super over the top crazy practical effect gore. Right up my street. Quite funny in some parts, over the top sadistic in some parts, possibly a bid edgelordy in some parts. 10/10  Beat Joker's second week at US Box Office. Cost 2 million lol. |

But that is a 30 second cameo so not sure it counts. |

The Duke brothers was my first thought and I think counts - the ending of the first film is why they are destitute in the second, so whilst we don't see the event (in the second) we see the result.
Michael Keaton plays the same character in Jackie Brown and Out of Sight.

Isn’t basically all Spielberg and Hooper just his patsy to get around some union rule or contract with another studio or something? Either way, whoever worked on it its a solid movie. Had a real scary mystique around it in the playground when I was at school as someone had been allowed to watch it with their parents and it became a mythical Scariest Movie Ever among us all. |

I believe the Italian Job is reference in Hobbs and Shaw where Statham's character implies he was in that movie, which he was, in the remake.

iirc there are quite a few crossovers between Tarantino movies, and Tarantino-adjacent movies, but those feel more like a franchise, and then there are similar things between a lot of the Luc Besson & besson-adjacent movies (which apparently now branches out as far as Collateral)
And of course there's Aliens skulls showing up in non-alien movies, and ETs showing up in Star Wars, but that's just easter eggs.

Near the start of Sightseers a car passes Alice Lowe and Steve Oram’s characters, its the car from Kill List with Michael Smiley and the other hitman inside. According to Ben Wheatley that’s them on their way to the job from their film.

I've always enjoyed it. It's daft, and that's OK. Watched it with the kids last year and they had fun with it too! I never understood why it was such a turkey.

I never understood why it was such a turkey. edit: Last Action Hero, not Terrifier.There are very clear reasons why it bombed so hard, the script which went through very many strange changes from hard R rating then down to a PG, the director McTiernan not really "getting" the movie which he admits, the marketing which didn't really know what it was marketing and I guess the fading star that was Schwarzenegger who while still very famous was very aware that the action archetype was fading fast all topped with a good dollop of hubris (being advertised on a rocket/not moving release well before Jurassic Park) I've seen it recently and yeah there is fun in there but you can see how it could have really gone for it but falls short. I think Arnie is great in it but it doesn't go far enough and falls very flat when it gets to the real world. |

Not actually sure if they are meant to be any good though. First one is alright and just sticks to being a trashy OTT gore fest. Second one tries to expand on the 'lore' I guess, which I've never managed to get through despite several attempts. Will probably still give the third a go though |
