Dune, follows the now well established Jacques Villeneuve pattern of having no real clue what’s happening but every shot is a masterpiece of photography. Better than Star Wars, not as good a Blade Runner, about as good as Matrix, better than Blade Runner 90210
6/10
Dune part 2, continues where the first one left off. Together they’re the most Villeneuve films yet. Better than the Matrix trilogy, better than the Star Wars trilogy, and the other Star Wars trilogy, and definitelt the other Star Wars trilogy. I assume he’s making a 3rd one, I will watch it
6/10

Hundreds of Beavers A low budget Canadian black and white slapstick comedy about a fur trapper involved in a conflict with... well... hundreds of beavers. It's virtually dialogue-free, and plays like a live-action Looney Tunes cartoon. It's been doing the festivals for a couple of years now. For most of that time people whose movie opinions I trust have told me that I should go see it, because it's fucking great. And now I have seen it, and can confirm that it is, indeed, fucking great. Just a smidge too bloated in the middle section, but overall it's an absolute joy to watch. Inventive, and absolutely dumb as shit but in the best possible way. I haven't laughed that much in a movie theatre for a very long time. Years, probably. So yeah, if it's playing somewhere near you, go take a few friends along and see it. It's a guaranteed good time. 9/10 Rating/kids suitability?

There's some risque imagery (mostly snow-women with snow breasts, and 30 seconds of clothed pole dancing), but I don't think really young kids would be affected by it. And older kids would just think it's funny. So... yeah, I'd say it's fine for kids to watch.

Yes, even that trilogy. Maybe except that other one. I just fundamentally don't understand why they live there, that was my main obstacle.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare
Superman and Reacher go on a psychotic murderous rampage while Rory Kinnear does the worst Churchill in the history of cinema. If you've seen the trailer, you've seen the film. It was ok.

Deadpool & Wolverine
I wasn't sure how this was going to play tbh, started a bit up and down but then it found its groove and then just kept going. I don't think I've seen such a meta film that embodied the term meta, there were so many deep cuts and industry jokes that were brutal as hell and I was there for all of it. And yeah I laughed pretty hard, it was actually kind of weird to be in a cinema with a lot of people essentially watching a comedy film and laughing a lot. I haven't experienced that for a long time and I guess I missed that.

I don’t think I’d want Deadpool being in every MCU film, but he’s an enjoyable palate-cleanser. And this one had some heart, I felt.

I'd love to see him crop up in, say, Secret Wars, and be really annoyed because he can't swear.
Although really they did that joke in The Good Place.

He'd have to take lessons from Joe Pesci.

The main Deadpool crossover I want to see is Deadpool and Holland's Spider-Man.
I think that could be fun, with a totally aghast Spider-Man.

I enjoyed the film as a more sweary and violent Dirty Dozen type film but Rory Kinnear really was an awful choice for Churchill, does Guy Ritchie not have Simon Russell Beale's phone number?
Unsurprisingly the actual Operation Postmaster had a lot fewer explosions and gunfire, it was an incredible feat though.

Since seeing Deadpool & Wolverine I've been diving into critical reviews to see what other people thought, and I can totally understand the criticism but it doesn't take away the fact that it was just a lot of fun.
Viewed as a popcorn comedy vs an action film it's an absolute hit.

I was worried D&W would be a bit of a dud tbh, it just felt a bit forced in all the pre-release marketing and the early critics reviews didn't bode well. But glad to hear it's still a fun watch, just like the first two films were. Although annoyingly I've already had a couple of cool cameos spoilt by headlines on other websites.

My mate got a spoiler by Jo Wiley when he was listening to her show on Radio 2 which I think is a bit ridiculous.

You're not the only one - he's one of those guys who's the same 'character' in each film, himself. All his previous films - Van Wilder, Waiting, RIPD, Green Lantern etc. are bloody atrocious.
As a person he seems a decent bloke though and his personality works pretty well for Deadpool.

I'll probably watch it eventually. I saw the other two films. I just have this vague memory of going to a comic convention and this guy dressed up as Deadpool just gyrating his crotch around kids and it's made me angry ever since.

I don't mind Ryan Reynolds. You know what you're getting and it's usually good fun if nothing else.

I do not particularly like Ryan Reynolds. But he's fine in Deadpool, where he's wearing a mask and you can't see his stupid face.

They must have squeezed in a pikachu joke somewhere in D&W...

I like him as Deadpool because it's incredibly clear that he actually gives a shit about the character. You can have criticisms about the movies but they've never felt lazy imo.

Deadpool & Wolverine
I'm slightly split on this to be honest.
Broadly speaking I enjoyed my time with it, it's very funny in places. It even manages to be a vaguely poignant love letter to the Fox made Marvel films.
Beyond that it's also guilty of all the usual superhero bobbins to boot. Nonsense plot, mostly shite bad guys and numerous weightless action sequences featuring some proper dodgy CGI. The multiverse and regenerative powers of the protagonists also render everything fairly inconsequential for the most part.
I also think I might be nearing my Ryan Reynolds threshold after all these years. Prodigiously gifted comic timing and lovely bloke though he may be, I think I've had my fill. I'd much rather he gave some more serious turns like in Buried or Smokin' Aces another crack to be honest.
6.5/10
P.S - One of the film's best gags is after the credits so stay behind.
