Never underestimate people power in conjunction with Environmental Health powers, my local Sainsburys was built long before the new housing estate near by, a year or so after the housing estate was built the supermarket were forced to stop all night deliveries due to the noise of the lorries, now whenever you go in at 9am the shelves are all being stocked by every man and his dog in the store.

When I say I’ve had mostly good luck with my neighbours… So in my block, the family on the floor below and across one have a lad with additional needs. I wouldn’t want to put a label on him. Every summer it’s the same thing. They open up their balcony and the lad spends days on end wandering in and out groaning loudly (he’s not able to form words). I wouldn’t mind this at all, but he does it until 4am now. I get it. It’s hot. It’s not his fault. He’s going to want to do what he wants and they might not have the care he needs to set up a routine or get him to sleep when everyone else is sleeping. But all I know is when it’s 4am and I have an early start the next day and all I can hear is him braying his lungs out… I’m starting to feel much less tolerant as each day passes. I wish it was just a regular twat getting pissed out there and singing Sweet Caroline, because at least then by law I could kill him. I’m moving soon and I’m literally begging that we get the contracts exchanged before I lose it. Fixed that for you |

Had enough of Gary Upstair Flat and the incessant bloody stomping room to room from 8am until midnight as he is WFH and never ever fucks off out. So any time I get a rare day off I get this cunt stamping about to the kettle or to the loo.
So after a year of it I finally snapped and shouted SHUT UP through the ceiling and it's been just.....blessedly quiet. I'm waiting for it to start up again in a few hours, but for now....

Being driven insane by next door, genuinely suffering with sleep deprivation related stress and depression.
They keep exotic cats. Male and female, not neutered, as they breed them periodically to sell, presumably tax free, as they work in supermarkets and car parks seemingly part time yet own their house when we do not.
The male is kept in a ramshackle enclosure outside and cries day and night. At times the overwhelming smell of cat shit and piss enters our home, particularly my daughter's bedroom. She seems immune to it thankfully but I'm not.
The female lives inside presumably to stop unwanted shagging. It's developed a fucking scratching habit. 4 am, 10 - 20 minutes. Repeat every hour/hour and a half. Usually a break and a session around lunchtime and at around 11 pm. It'll then go quiet until 4. Over the last week the first session has changed from 5 to 4. Scratching and scraping at the wall of our bedroom. Wakes me up and I cannot get back to sleep. Banging on the wall has no effect. I've just hurt my wrist doing it.
Mrs is going round today and fully expecting either denial or defiance.
These lot have a habit of garden fires (yes next to the cat enclosure) and I've been round three times about it when white smoke (burning fucking plastic) has been entering daughter's room and poisoning our entire ground floor. The final time I got 'well it's a fire and I've just put water on it, that's what happens' and a closed door.
Same neighbours have fly tipped their old kitchen units, a load of concrete, gravel, AstroTurf and various general detritus and shit. I knew it was them as the units were on their front AstroTurf lawn for months. Months of enduring him hand building a kitchen and the ensuing noise. There is also cat food boxes and sealant foam. Their back window must have had blown seals and they have used yellow expanding foam around the perimeter. I can't overstate how embarassingly bad the results look.
I have photo evidence of stuff on the pile in their garden but here's the clincher - he's admitted to my partner that it's him. He's straight -faced told her that he has been given permission from both the housing association and the council to temporarily fly tip so long as he had a skip four weeks later. This has long expired and was always very obvious bullshit. Would not happen.
I really want to report them on this but I know it won't end well. We are on an estate with some dodgy characters and an assumed 'no grass' culture. Not that type of grass, there's apparently plenty of that to go around.
I'm losing it.

I can sympathise with the plastic burning (and the general "I'll do what I want" tosser next door) Tosser a couple of doors down does that, it's the easiest way to dispose of the rubbish from his on the side car maintenance business, which I'm sure is fully above board and pays the correct amount of tax. |

Sadly moving is not on the cards. We don't own the house. It's housing association. They do own theirs via right to buy so there is no accountability to the landlord for them anymore, a perhaps unforseen effect of that.
We don't have the money to buy currently and I don't want to look at the additional expense and lack of security of private rented when the current economy is happening.
We've sunk tons of money into making it a nice home, replacing 13 internal doors which were shocking, carpet and flooring, we just paid about £800 to get fitted blinds everywhere.
Not only would we have spent the money for nothing, the HA will likely bill is thousands of we don't remove it all and put back other stuff which is absolutely an improvement - but they'd want the decking and gravel in the yard for instance reverting to their shitty flags and weeds combo, or again will charge us thousands.
They'd even charge me for painting the terrible beech effect kitchen cupboards and changing the handles, despite the fact it now looks like a lovely kitchen that would sell the house to a prospective new tenant. They're as bad as the neighbour. Trapped really.
