The new album fucking rips too, haven't stopped listening. Tons of energy and great production.

Dunno why but that Better Lovers album isn't clicking for me, and I loved Greg-era Dillinger (especially Miss Machine) and pretty much everything ETID did. Guess I've changed (read: gotten older)...
This Acid Bath reunion is a bit of a weird one. I'd never heard of them until a couple of years ago then started seeing quite a few T-shirts in the last couple of years, and suddenly everyone's going crazy for them. Is this a bandwagon-jump or are they really that great?
Still loving the new Blood Incantation, think it's my album of the year by a fair margin.

Blood Incantation is probably my album of the year. Need to do a list soon but there's a lot of contenders for top 10.
Schammasch are a late addition, never listened to them before but this is scratching an itch.
A word cloud of my thoughts would include: Blackened, doomy, atmospheric, melodic, bit goth, epic, emotional. Some bits remind me of Bossk.

IOTUNN was my pick of last week's records. Though Sentient Horror were as reliable as ever, Gigan/Black Curse/Gaerea also good. Still need to listen to Living Gate and The Spirit.
Not sure there's so much for this week, I'll probably listen to the new VOLA but the singles have been eh.

Listened to this one on my holiday a few weeks back, it's great. Like a female fronted skeletonwitch at times.

Counterparts with a surprise EP release that's more heavier than their usual fare of melodic hardcore.

Already posted about these guys but this album is really, really striking a chord with me. At the risk of sounding like a pretentious knob, it sounds like how I feel at the moment. Don't even know what the lyrics are on about, but the emotions just resonate.

New Poppy album is enjoyable but a bit generic. I mean it has some good hooks and riffs, and Poppy's voice sounds great - both her poppy cleans and quite visceral harshes, but it's kind of lost a lot of the uniqueness, and just sounds like well crafted but ultimately a bit generic metalcore / nu-metal. The influences are very apparent - this bits like Slipknot, this bits like Knocked Loose. A lot of it could easily just be latter day Bring Me The Horizon stuff, which makes sense given that it was produced by their former keyboardist and producer. So it often just sounds like Poppy doing her take on those bands rather than doing anything particularly new.
it's still fun and enjoyable glossy, just wish it had a few more curveballs.

Oh it's weird having subtitles on for growling, i had them left on from another video. I've always preferred to not really know what the lyrics are, the voice is just an instrument to accompany the music. I tend to listen through them and only really take in chorus like repetative phrases or vocalists that are a bit clearer.
Poppy is an interesting character, from her early surreal vids to the genres in her catalogue.
This week i joined Wintersun Time I 2.0 and Time II into a single album and have listened to the suite in one go a few times. It's a great piece of work, worth the wait at the end of the day. I honestly expected for it to end up like the music version of Star Citizen but it actually got released, and with a metric fuckton of other albums, versions and tunes in the package.

Just in case you are interested. They often have the lyrics attached to the tracklist.
