Not really a recommendation as you already mentioned them, but just wanted to endorse Urne, they're bloody great live.
Assuming they aren't screwed by a bad audio mix they have a very big sound for a three piece.
I would also recommend Zulu and (in an entirely different way) Scene Queen. Wargasm are pretty fun too.

I am totally loving REZN, think I heard about them via being on the Damnation line up in November.
Thought I'd been listening to their new album Burden but it turns out it was last year's Solace... Either way it's excellent.
I get kind of old Elder vibes in some ways but slower and doomier. Anyway it's meditative without ever getting boring and doomy without being miserable and I love it. Looking forward to exploring the rest of their catalogue...

New album from Ulcerate came out yesterday. First I've heard of them, guess I've got a new fav current band to go back and listen to.

Yesss Ulcerate are amazing and pretty unique sounding. All their stuff is great
They just got announced for next year's Fortress festival, starting to feel bad for Damnation as Fortress seem to be getting more of the hyped bands... Started with black metal but now they're extending into more general extreme metal with stuff like these guys. The venue looks amazing too.

Fucking hell, I did not see that coming:
Always used to enjoy them after their stuff appeared on a Project Gotham Racing soundtrack.

My mates in Rogue Limb just won the Nottingham final of Metal to the Masses and will be playing Bloodstock. Awesome lads, fucking buzzing.

I remember buying a Kerrang mag back when I was 12 or so with a compilation CD with Limp Bizkit, Korn and Brackish by Kittie on it. Was the first I ever heard an all women group that sounded just as heavy, if not heavier, than the guys. New music does sound pretty good too

Hmm, not really my cup of tea. Bit too Nu-Metal adjacent. The vocals sound decent though.
Crypta are my pick for all-female metal bands. Drummer is insane too:

Yes Crypta a fantastic band, big future ahead if they're already this good.

There's not very many all female metal bands at all, can think of a good few female fronted bands, and a lesser number of female metal musicians.
It's a definite sausage party.
Will add that Death Pill are a decent all-female hardcore/thrash band from Ukraine. Maybe more on the punk side but definitely have a Kreator/Sodom Teutonic thrash influence.

Beast in Black is back with their power metal/Europop inspired music. They're fun, Yannis has one of the best voices around. They go from singing about Berserk and cyberpunk to love songs that sound like they belong in Eurovision. This one seems a bit too on the nose as the chorus seems just a few notes shy of being the same as Everytime We Touch by Cascada

Not necessarily my thing, but this seems to be well received. Black metal/prog/acid trip going from one extreme to another.

It's polling day so time for a Threshold playlist. These guys are the absolute masters of prog metal and politics. 😎

There's quite a few professional recordings from Hellfest courtesy of ARTE, for example this Fear Factory performance: Milo (think that's the new singers name) is great tbh, very much sounds like Bell.
But yeah, have a look at the Hellfest performances on YouTube. Others include Kanonfieber, Ihsahn, Cradle of Filth, Anaal Nathrakh, Saxon, Megadeth... Most of the performances it seems. Some great stuff, and not just the larger acts.

That new Speed album is pretty nifty to be fair.
Maybe I do like hardcore after all. But I'm too old to be a hardcore kid, I'll put a hip out if I tried a spin kick.

Bit of drama on metal festival Facebook groups from Fortress booking Akhlys. Main guy from that band pictured with a guy with a nazi symbol and did the standard dodgy black metal thing of claiming it was irrelevant rather than denouncing it.
Quick way to alienate half your audience.
I don't think fascism is something we should accept any ambiguity on.

New Gaerea album is promising to be sick. I've previously liked them but not loved them, the album didn't really hold my full attention. The singles and blurb so far suggest a slightly wider array of sound. That remains to be seen but it's on the right track

The new Orange Goblin album exceeded my expectations. I mean it doesn't do anything new and it's probably not their best album, but I'm enjoying it more than I expected (and I expected to enjoy it)

This is rad, some algorithm suggested it and I love it. Weird obscure lofi blackened synth metal/punk.
