I was very much into this series back in the late 80s early 90s, forgot about them for years before rediscovering my books in my parents attic a few years ago. They beat the Fighing Fantasy books in my opinion due to the better combat system, consistent world lore (all written by Joe Dever), and the fact you could take your same character from book to book. Anyway, Joe sadly died in 2016 but not before he returned to the series to write book 29 and set out the plan of the grand finale books (30-32) to a small team including his son. They have since written and released books 30 and 31 and they are fantastic. There will be a bit if a pause before the final book comes out as they are releasing all the books from the first (Flight From the Dark) in a consistent hardback format. So if anyone here wants to dive back into 80s gamebook nostalgia then they are selling them at: magnamund.com/I gather the new so called Definitive Editions of the first three books won't be sent out till Jan 2020, so not a Christmas present option sadly! Avoid the people selling the books at ludicrous prices on eBay by the way.

I enjoyed the Lone Wolf books back in the 80s and had seen reprints and new books were coming but the hardback size and pricing is a little off-putting unfortunately (30 books at 20 quid a pop soon add up). I had been using the Aeon project apps which allow you to play the original books on an android app (with permission from the licence holder).
I think I only played through the Kai and Magnakai subseries back in the day but may have played a few of the earlier books in the 3rd subseries.

Yeah, the pre-order of the new versions of books 1-3 cost me £71.75 once uk p&p was taken into account, so too much for many. The quality of the books that they have already released do justify the cost to me, as the binding, cover and interior art, along with the map on the inside cover are all beautifully done. Project Aon is definitely the best for reading them for free, as they cover the books up to #29 (though it doesn't include the interior art for that last book). The Kai and Magnakai series are definitely the best. The Grandmaster books (13-20) are by no means bad, but they tend to be more episodic since you don't have the over-arching war against the Darklords. The original run of the final series (known as the New Order books) 21-28 is probably my least enjoyable series, but they are knocking it out the park with the much more recently written finale (29-32).

Space is more of an issue too. I have too much stuff. I would like to support some of these new ones though as I do prefer there to always be a physical option. I suppose even paperbacks cost a bit these days and the number of books would take up space anyways. I will keep an eye out for now though.

Loved these as a lad. Might pick up at least one of the hardbacks just because.
Switch/PS4 game isn't half bad either, seems to have slipped under most people's radar.

Awesome. Good to hear there's a release imminent. I was playing them on the Project Aeon Seventh Sense S app as they had permission from the Estate to use the online versions of the books.
They have a thread regarding the Magnamund releases. If you're a fan of the Lone Wolf Series and Joe Dever then it's probably worth looking around the forums. They've been going a long while.
I remember seeing them when i was younger and might have played a couple from the library or from friends. They were definitely tougher and trickier than the Steve Livingston CYOA Books we all had.
