Yeah I don't think it takes being a nervous flyer for your "oh fuck I'm going to die" instinct to trigger on those landings. Fuck that shit.

I was due to be driving past there on the A303 today - how treacherous is it out there? (Not that I'm going now, think we've postponed our trip altogether now). Trees down everywhere and people drive like twats there on a normal day, so can imagine it's worse today. That was what I was expecting. I don't mind that drive usually, but as you say lot of twats driving that route too.

It's now sounding like the the apocralypse outside. Roof tiles seem to be holding up. Go careful if you're out there, lads. We've just lost one apparently. Just missed the car. Need to investigate when my meeting ends. Fuck. Fingers crossed it's not too bad.

It's nothing like as bad here as that video from Heathrow. It's very gusty, but not the constant wind they seem to be having.

I'm a terrible flyer, this doesn't help. Yet I can't look away.

Nah, I bbq all year round, including Christmas day. That said, some traditional bbq weather would be welcome. I've been meaning to try finishing steaks off outside when reverse searing, as the whole house stinks for the next day when you sear them in a screaming hot pan... Might have to brave it next time! If you have a charcoal bbq get a chimney starter. It's a metal cylinder with a handle you fill with charcoal to get it going. When it's going you're supposed to then drop it in the bbq. But if you just put the bbq grill over the top of the chimney you get an uber hot small cooking area that's great for a 1 min per side sear afterburner.

Heathrow is totally flat for miles around, which doesn't help Norfolk, too. It's been one of the biggest shocks after Bristol, which is really hilly. It's windy here on a daily basis. I just don't think we're catching as much of the full path of the storm as London & the SW are.

As a side, it's downright lovely here. Clear blue skies and about 20 degrees.

Did they get it down this time?
122mph at the Needles. Strongest gust recorded in England.

This BIG JET TV stream is mental, it's like I'm watching hundreds of people shit themselves in real time.

I had to take off in something like this around 8 years ago. Ours was just about the only flight not cancelled, the plane dipped quite a bit about 10 seconds after taking off and even the cabin crew looked like they were shitting themselves.

My missus needs to get half cut before every flight as she's scared shitless of flying.
I'd imagine we'll be taking a train if we get away this year after she sees this!

This is a great advert for how skilled airline pilots are, some of the manoeuvring they're doing to get the planes on the ground is amazing.
The recent EgyptAir pilot looked like it was a regular day with how they got it down and the Emirates A380 was down with zero fuss too.

You're just floating off the ground, thinking you're going to be down on tarmac in a under a minute, then the agony is extended as the pilot hits TOGA, you're thrown back in your seat and you've got 20 minutes before you're subjected to the nerves again.
