Do you think. I mean project ahead to the perfect realisation of vr, perfect graphics, just a pair of glasses required and it is still a graphical presentation of the same information. It doesn't add anything. Dunno, you might be right and I have crap imagination Well if the fidelity is high enough, you don't need a TV, or monitors- project what you want onto a virtual surface, or if it's 3D, just whack it on the table and walk around it. It won't necessarily be the same information at all. Right now keyboards are the number one input device for doing anything serious, but that might change if someone can come up with a less hardware way of doing things. New interfaces do pop up- I remember seeing teenagers texting on their Nokias at about 350 words-per-minute, and then getting up to the same speed when everyone switched to smartphones. If I had an idea of what the killer app would be I'd try building it, but just because I can't think of it, doesn't mean that someone else will.

No you're right. I have pause because I don't have a vision for projecting where social media will evolve to.

Getting “You’re all caught up” without the option to view older posts on my mobile device. It’s really shit. Fuck Facebook!

I've barely used Facebook in years, other than auto posting from IG,but every time I do go on it I'm amazed by how much content that you don't follow is forced upon you. It's like walking through a busy market and being harassed by every single vendor there and very occasionally seeing someone you vaguely recognise getting pushed out the way.

That's because no-one uses it much anymore, so they have to serve you loads of ads otherwise it would just be a blank page.
If you join a couple of groups with any amount of activity it starts looking busy again.

I was barely looking at it towards the end but it still felt good to lance that boil.

For some reason, Im still holding onto instagram even though I follow (and am followed by) barely a handful of people and I just post absolute shite onto there.

I'm quite tempted to delete mine and make a fake account just for marketplace. Haven't posted anything on there in years, and last time I went on I just ended up removing a couple of old friends who were spouting antivax drivel.

I can recommend FB Purity to anyone still using Facebook in a browser (sadly not on mobile): www.facebook.com/fluffbustingpurity/It allows you strip a most of the shit out (including sponsored posts, though the one guy who develops it has said that's getting harder and harder to stay on top of) and is very customisable. My Facebook is now basically just a single feed (no sponsored posts and none of the shit in the sidebars) of news from local restaurants I frequent, game devs I like, bands I like, and a small select group of family and friends who don't annoy me. For Android I hear good things about Facebook LC Reborn, though I haven't tried it: forum.xda-developers.com/t/app-mod-facebook-lc-reborn-lcr.4420057/

I rarely look at it, maybe once a month, think I'm getting close to deleting it for good.

Grabbed some absolute bargains on Marketplace and some not so bargain stuff and shifted a fair few things too, good for seeing what's happening in your local area too if you join the groups, it used to be useful for keeping up with school shit when the boys were younger too. There's plenty of good stuff you can cherry pick, as well as all the bad.

I can gladly say I've been off all social media now for nearly a year, and I genuinely don't miss any of it.
I have nothing against other people using it. It's just really not for me.

Grabbed some old decking and timbers off Marketplace today for free, sure I spent about 2-3 hours cherry picking the good bits and removing the deck screws and cleaning it up but it'll be just fine for outdoorsy projects etc. Probably £50+ new.

I managed to ignore it for a full year, but just had to put a thanks for the birthday wishes message up.

In my experience, instagram also pushes ads and sponsored posts by people you don't follow. I've not had a facebook proper account for about a decade and a half though, so I don't know if it's exponentially worse on there.
