I miss after market car stereos. Motorised ones with 4x40W written on them and something like XtreamBass. My parents had an after market radio in their ancient mini that was just a radio and standalone speaker stuck on the dashboard/shelf. It was so shit, it didn’t even have FM.

We're still using fax cards for some of our clients. The system broke recently and no one had a clue what to do with it.
First place I worked didn't have a single computer. I was repairing teleprinters and radios. First time I saw a computer in the office it was an IBM xt. I also worked on an Argus 500 mainframe that had Winchester disks with paper tape input and 128k of ferrite bead memory. It was housed in a room twice the size of my living room (~10 meters square).

Psiloc - a mate had one of those and I'm pretty sure it was just drag and drop music on to it, unlike the iPod which relied on iTunes. Much better in that regard! Think I ended up using a plugin for Winamp to manage music on my iPod, as the Windows version of iTunes was painfully bad. Ah that's true, I forgot about the Windows iTunes nightmare Yip. That was the one and only reason for my choice.

I had one of those electronic organiser things. TBH it was completely redundant at the time and I barely used it before it got lost

My in-laws passed on some of the stuff they've kept from when my wife and her brothers were kids. Some good (Lego) and some bad - like some book scanning thing. Why the fuck would you hang on to these things things for so long? Anything battery operated, get fucked. Pointless. (of course it's now clogging up out minimal storage)

I had an Iomega 250mb zip drive until last year when I had a clear out as I hadn't used it for years. Still worked though.

I think I had a complete backup of the old Home of the Underdogs database on a Zip disk. They were a slow awkward ballache before sd cards and USB sticks.

Nice thread, just catching up on posts. Minidiscs we’re great and all, but shiny silver Walkmans we’re the fucking pinnacle man. The way they neatly fitted into your school blazer inside pocket was next level shit. I remember walking through an airport in my teens with just one of these in one pocket (headphone cable tucked inside jumper) and my passport in the other pocket and no bag thinking life doesn’t get better than this

I had one of these in school. I think it was my third MP3 player, but could also play MP4s on its tiny 1.5” screen. But being able to watch The Matrix in class was the most amazing thing.
