I booted up Rise again yesterday.
Played through the Sonic event quests, which was quite fun as I finally learned how to do the sprint move when palamute riding.
I also realised that I'd forgotten all the moves with dual blades and longsword... 😔
LBG action was much better, and indeed it's got me think how I might do better with one if I go back to Iceborne.

I've been sucked back into MH:W!!
Youtube popped up a videa from about 2 years ago of an 'immortal build' which looked quite fun so I gave it a go.
Needed to craft Ishvalda greaves, which meant I had to fight one. Turns out I'd only beaten it once, so I needed to refine/re-learn my technique in order to finish the fight.
Then I needed some Great Spiritvein Gems in order to augment the greaves, which meant doing that event quest against Ruiner Nerg. Did two of those last night and I got the mini crown on the second hunt.
And now... I'm giving serious consideration to going back and grinding for the rest of the crowns. Starting with Velkana, who I've always hated.

I know what you mean, but I definitely have a MH itch at the moment. Just reinstalled Iceborne ro see how it goes on PS5 and I'm enjoying the title screen for a bit. |

One new elder dragon, plus variant Almudron and Somnacanth. Oh, and Seregios is back.
New wirebug skills where you can switch skills mid-quest.
New follower quests where you can bring NPCs from the village on the hunt with you.
Starting to get interested now.

I got the impression that the characters that help you out in the sieges/rampages will be the first ones available. Plus some new ones from the new village.
What wasn't clear was whether this replaces your palamute/palico. I suspect it will to keep to the 4 hunter limit.

Having finished HFW I've gone back to Iceborne to have another crack at Alatreon.
Saw a YouTube video suggesting a comfy build...
Did a bit of grinding to get Frostfang LS and some bits of Raging Brachy armour and...
I'm still pretty crap!
I made it to the first eschaton judgement on my third attempt, with horns broken, and screwed it up by not first taking a max potion.
It's making me feel like I somehow cheated my way through every other monster.
I need to 'git gud'!

I main SA so after 15 tries Fatalis should be pretty doable Also use Jerky, not max potions! |

I enjoyed MHW so much and then my group drifted off. Now it's been too long and I don't think I could get my head around learning all the moves and combos again.

It was definitely a struggle trying to pick it up again straight after finishing HFW - my brain was expecting to do different things...
It came back fairly quickly. Now I need to learn Alatreon's move set, and get better with timing my LS attacks.
