Looking at the other side of the knockout table I’m glad we’re this side. Eeesh.

We smashed the Netherlands in a friendly so shouldn't fear them if they get to the final.
France Vs Germany will be a great game if it happens.

Great game. Thoroughly enjoyed that. Close battle. Think England were good for the win by the end.

England Sweden and France Germany as semis would be a huge draw

Definitely a fun match at the stadium. My wife loved it versus the tense league games I drag her to sometimes.

Late to the party, but just caught the England Spain game.
I think that's the first women's game I've watched and that was a lot of fun. (more fun than most England men's games....)

I've watched a fair few over the years and that is definately one of the better ones. I think years ago I didn't appreciate how much the smaller crowds affected things. Since CoVid I'm more aware of that and things like this competition have been great for crowds. The other thing that seemed to happen a lot in the old days was crap goalies, like watching Scottish games in the 70s

Yeah, the teams are way better funded now and the professionalism shines through. Tactically and technically some of the teams are on the same level as top Men's sides. Whereas even just a decade ago most games were really scrappy with USA crushing all before them.

There was a dark moment in the last Euros or World Cup when the England Band turned up but luckily the lasses seem to have escaped them
One thing that I noticed a lot when I was going to more of the Newcastle Women’s games is that the general attitude of the crowd was more “I hope we win” than the overwhelming “better not fucking lose” that men’s games had. I think that positivity is pretty pervasive across the women’s game at most levels.
I know we miss out on seeing the US, Japan or Australia but the Euros is probably the stronger competition. The gap between haves and have nots is even bigger than with the men because its literally pros v amateurs at times and in Europe even somewhere like Norn Ireland is at least has a team of semis

I agree wholeheartedly. The atmosphere is very enjoyable and completeley different from a men's match.
I remember there was a penalty for Fenerbahce a couple of years ago for fan misbehaviour in a league match. The turkish league agreed to let fans in for the next match, but only women and children. It was unique. An idea other leagues should definitely consider.
edit: Found footage of it. I'm a Galatasaray fan but this gives me the chills.

After watching them play to crowds of about 50 on a university sports field I’m pretty gutted I missed this at the end of last season

Austria unlucky not to score tonight and then gift Germany a second with some calamitous playing the ball out of goal.
If you're chasing the game and time is pressing it's not clever and tonight it was suicidal.

Yeah Austria played some crazy football. Could have been a much heavier scoreline, but equally had one of their attempts snuck in the result could've been different entirely. Great game again.

t the general attitude of the crowd was more “I hope we win” than the overwhelming “better not fucking lose” that men’s games had I think I had this attitude, which is why I enjoyed it more. But maybe if I had been watching the games longer I'd be more stressed about it. I guess the women's team don't have a century of history and expectations placed on them every tournament.

Well I'm glad Sweden - Belgium didn't go to extra time, that was not a good game!

Belgium didn't even look close to scoring.

Sweden England should be a real interesting one.
Of all the games we could get in the tournament this feels like the one which is most likely destined for penalties

Can only see a French win if it carries on like this.

England’s defence falling apart every five seconds. Sweden should be a couple ahead at least.
